31,000 Children Malnourished And Left Unattended To In Sudan

According To Africa News, Many of the children who fled the ongoing fight in Sudan are now suffering from malnutrition. About 500 children have died from hunger in Sudan — including two dozen babies in a government-run orphanage in the capital of Khartoum — since fighting erupted.

Aid workers at the camp complained about the lack of medications and called for urgent medical assistance.

“Any malnutrition patient who comes to us should receive proper medications, and we don’t have any medications here,”

    Said volunteer doctor, Hashem Moussa.

Sudan was plunged into chaos in April when simmering tensions between the military, led by Abdel Fattah Burhan, and the RSF, commanded by Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, exploded into open fighting in the capital, Khartoum, and elsewhere. More than 3.4 million people were forced to flee their homes to safer areas inside Sudan, according to the United Nations’ migration agency. Over a million crossed into neighboring countries, including Egypt, Chad, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Central African Republic, according to the United Nations’ migration agency.

Two Confirmed Dead With Many Feared Trapped, In A Collapsed Building In ABUJA.

According To Africa News, Rescue crews were searching for survivors thursday after a building collapse in Nigeria’s capital left two people dead while many others are feared trapped, emergency officials said. The two-story building in the densely populated Garki district of the capital Abuja collapsed during a downpour late Wednesday, witnesses said. It served both as a shopping centre and a residential block, and some of those trapped were believed to be shoppers.

Nkechi Isa, spokeswoman for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in the city, said 37 people have so far been pulled alive from the rubble. She said the rescue efforts would continue until the rubble had been searched. Authorities often blame such disasters on a failure by officials to enforce building safety regulations and on poor maintenance.

HILDA BACI Auditioned For Big Brother Naija Five Times And Was Rejected

According To Pulse, Chef Hilda Baci has disclosed that she auditioned for Big Brother Naija five different times, but was not chosen. The renowned chef made this declaration while appearing as a guest on The Big Friday Show hosted by BBNaija star Symply Tacha. She noted that she decided to audition for the popular reality show while still planning her record-breaking attempt. Hilda also added that she planned to hold her cook-a -thon after coming out of the Big Brother house, but she was never selected. She said,

“I tried to get on Big Brother Naija for a while. I think I auditioned about four or five times. The plan for the cook-a-thon was still in the pipeline, so my goal was to go to Big Brother and then come out and do the cook-a-thon.”

Going on, Hilda acknowledged the idea that her plans fell through because God had better plans for her. She took the rejection as a sign to focus on what she does best, cooking.

    In her words,

“But I guess God just knew, he was like you know what, this is fine just focus on this, this is going to take a lot more from you”

Baci is known for breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual by cooking for a total of 93 hours and 11 minutes in May 2023. Her four-day cooking marathon was held in Lekki, Lagos State, during which she received tremendous support from Nigerians both at home and abroad.

After weeks of waiting, it was finally announced that she followed their guidelines and set a new world record. However, due to a timing error in her breaks, she broke the record by 93 hours 11 minutes instead of the 100 hours 40 minutes she had calculated. Regardless, she officially received her certificate from the Guinness World Book of Records in June 2023 and has climbed higher up the success ladder since then.

Fans React To BURNA BOY’s Criticism On The Current State Of Afrobeat

Reports By Pulse, Burna Boy is one of the artists exporting Nigerian music to the world through his compelling talent that has seen him win multiple awards and sold-out choice venues. In a recent interview with Apple Music ahead of the release of his seventh album

    ‘I Told Them’

Burna Boy described Nigerian mainstream music generally called Afrobeat as a music that lacks substance. In a conversation with Apple Music Zane Lowe. Burna Boy said that Afrobeat offers no substance and it’s simply about giving a good time and that’s not all that music should be about.

“Afrobeats as you people call it is mostly about nothing. There’s no substance to it and nobody is talking about anything. It’s just about having a great time”,

    Burna Boy says.

According to the Grammy winner, music should not only be about a good time because life is not always a good time.

“At the end of the day, life is not an amazing time. No matter how nice of a time you have now, or you had at some point, or you plan to have, you’re still going to face life. For me, I feel like music should be the essence of an artist and an artist is a person who has good days, bad days, great days, and worst days.”

Burna Boy maintains that he uses his music to share his essence and his album is a window through which listeners can see some of that essence. Burna Boy is set to release his seventh album

    ‘I Told Them’

  • Fraudster Posing As Bank Official Scams Woman Of N2.8M

Fraudster Posing As Bank Official Scams Woman Of N2.8M

According To Punch, An Abuja-based businesswoman, Mrs Juliet Okpako, is currently devastated after losing N2.8m to a fraudster who posed as a bank official. The distraught woman said trouble started when a lady contacted her on the telephone and claimed to be calling from her bank. She said the caller, who identified herself as Ms. Joy, told her she called to warn her not to disclose her account details to anyone under any disguise. According to her, she did not suspect the caller because she kept warning her that if anybody asked for her Bank Verification Number or any of her bank details, she should not make the information available to the person.

    Okpako said,

“Somebody called me and she said she was calling from my bank. She said some people had been scamming some of their customers. She said they were trying to rectify something. She asked whether I had received any messages. I told him no. She said I should check my phone and send back the message they sent me to her“.

I sent the number to her and I received another one. She said I was going to receive another message from the bank. And when I saw the message, it was from my bank. I did not suspect anything, as she kept on telling me that if anybody asked for my BVN and all that, I should not send it.

Immediately after I sent that number, I started receiving debit alerts. That was how I knew I had been scammed. I rushed to my bank, but before I got there, all the N2.8m in my bank had been withdrawn. They transferred N200,000 multiple times to other accounts.

“They also used N100,000 to recharge some telephone numbers. I opened the account just to save the money to start a new business.”

She lamented that after all her efforts to block the account failed, the last money in her account was debited when she was asked to get a form before the account could be blocked.

    She added,

They first directed me to go to court, and from there we went to the Police ‘A’ Division in Suleja to make a report. I gave up after going to court. The police and then the bank said they could not trace the numbers that all the money and airtime were sent. It was when I was trying to get a form that the last money was debited. Contacted, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, was not available for comment as of the time this report was filed.

Physically-Impaired Street Sweepers Seek Pay Rise, Says The Pay Isn’t Enough

According To Punch, some physically challenged people allegedly employed by the Lagos State Waste Management Authority as street sweepers have called on the agency to increase their salary. Some of the physically challenged people who spoke with the news outlet on Monday in the Oshodi area of the state, allegedly earn between N5,000 and N30,000 monthly while some said they relied solely on donations from the public.

One employee, Sayo Ajayi, showed the news outlet his ID card which was said to have been issued by LAWMA. He revealed that his N5,000 salary was too small to sustain him and his family. Ajayi, who said he was a beggar for seven years before joining LAWMA, added that it was difficult for him to climb the bridge to carry out his task, but he had no choice since he needed to cater for his family.

    He said,

“Some years ago, my colleague and I were paid N12,000 to share and the official who was bringing the money then would remove N1,000 from it but now they pay N5,000 directly to my account. It is not easy surviving with N5,000 per month, especially in the current economic situation.”

Also speaking with PUNCH Metro, Alowonle, who claimed to have been working for LAWMA for 12 years said he was being paid N30,000 monthly but the amount was not sufficient to cater for his family’s needs.

Reacting, LAWMA’s Director of Public Affairs, Mrs Folashade Kadiri, said the organization was committed to ensuring that its workers, regardless of their abilities, receive fair and competitive compensation for their efforts and that no street sweepers are earning N5,000.

South African Woman Found Guilty Of Murdering Her Three Daughters In New Zealand

According to African News, A New Zealand jury on Wednesday found a south African woman guilty of murdering her three young daughters after rejecting her defense that she was so mentally ill at the time she couldn’t be held responsible.

Lauren Dickason, 42, had earlier admitted killing her 2-year-old twin daughters Maya and Karla, and their 6-year-old sister Lianè, at their home in the town of Timaru nearly two years ago. She had pleaded not guilty to murder, arguing she was suffering severe depression that could be traced back to postpartum depression.

Prosecutors acknowledged Dickason had suffered from depression but said it wasn’t enough to warrant a medical defense. They said she killed her children out of anger and resentment. They pointed to Dickason’s troubling phone messages and online history in the weeks before the killings, including comments about wanting to kill her children and Google searches for

    “most effective overdose in kids.”
