    Brooklyn Property Thief Allegedly Steals The Same Apartment Building Twice

    A convicted fraudster, who previously served time for stealing houses, is now facing charges for allegedly stealing the same $2 million Brooklyn apartment building on two occasions, per Daily News. Prosecutors claim that 55-year-old Danny Noble filed false documents to assert ownership of a three-story brick building on Carlton Ave. in Fort Greene.

    This was reportedly one of the nine homes he had been convicted of stealing in the early 2010s. Noble, a resident of Baldwin, N.Y., was initially arrested in 2015 for filing fraudulent documents with the city’s Department of Finance to take control of seven homes in Brooklyn and two in Queens. Noble and an accomplice targeted properties that were often unoccupied and not frequently visited by their owners. After obtaining the titles, they either rented out the homes or sold them. 

    Danny Noble’s Second Attempt

    Noble was paroled in September 2021 after serving a sentence of four-and-a-half to nine years for his crimes, according to prosecutors. On Tuesday, he returned to the same Brooklyn Supreme Court judge who had previously sentenced him. This time entering a plea of not guilty to charges of first-degree grand larceny and other offenses. In September 2023, Noble submitted a deed transferring ownership from himself to himself, asserting that he had been the legitimate owner of the property since 2010, according to Farrell. He also initiated a lawsuit against the true owner of the property, alleging that the owner’s deed was fraudulent.

    Authorities also discovered Noble’s earlier scam when he and accomplice Romelo Grey transferred the title of a Canarsie house to a third-party buyer. During an inspection, they found tenants living there and told them they needed to move out. The buyer’s renovations attracted the attention of a nearby business owner, who turned out to be the actual owner of the stolen property. Grey was sentenced to one-and-a-half to three years in prison. Noble’s bail is set at $2.5 million bond or $300,000 cash.

    The family of a 9-year-old boy battling brain cancer is speaking out against scammers taking advantage of their heartbreaking situation to make money for themselves, as reported by the NY Post.

    Deceitful individuals have been using images of Julian Galloway on fraudulent TikTok and other social media accounts to solicit donations from kind-hearted individuals via PayPal, according to ABC13. The Texas family, who has been documenting Julian’s courageous fight against cancer on Facebook, discovered this disturbing scheme in May. “It’s very disheartening. People out there will do anything to make a quick buck, ”the boy’s father Lee Galloway told The Post Monday. Julian was diagnosed with medulloblastoma in December 2019. Two years ago, he was given just six months to a year to live, but he has defied the odds and continues to bravely fight today, according to ABC13.

    The family has made significant efforts to report the fraudulent accounts, attempting to work their way through the app and its support center to have the posts removed. However, Galloway shared with the Independent that it has been challenging for them to even demonstrate that “anybody had been victimized.”

    Although the family has noticed a decline in scammers since they began raising awareness about the issue, Galloway still discovers new accounts featuring even more current information. They took photos they specifically shared with nonprofits or images that Galloway just posted on their Facebook page moments earlier.

    Father and Stepson Attempted To Disguise Murder-for-Hire As Road Rage, Prosecutors Say

    A road rage incident on Grand Parkway in Harris County, Texas, has been uncovered as a suspected murder-for-hire scheme, allegedly involving a father and his stepson planning the attack, according to Law & Crime.

    Early on February 4, a 40-year-old man, whose identity has not been disclosed, was shot multiple times while driving his work vehicle on Grand Parkway. Fortunately, he survived and is currently hospitalized. Initially thought to be a case of road rage, the investigation took a turn when the cameras inside the victim’s truck provided crucial footage, leading authorities to identify two suspects: a man and his stepson.

    Ricardo Obando, 49, and Matthew Rosas, 24, faced a Harris County court following their arrest on February 15 for attempted capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. During the hearing, prosecutors claimed that Obando was supposedly hired to murder the victim, while Rosas was reportedly offered $300 to transport him from the crime scene. Additionally, prosecutors revealed that Rosas confessed to his involvement in the alleged scheme and had been instructed to track the victim “for several days” to familiarize himself with his routine.

    Prosecutors said that Rosas was found with “$220 and two new $100 bills at the time of his arrest. He said the $220 was what remained of the proceeds of the shooting.”

    Obando, who has a history of felony convictions, is currently being held at Harris County Jail with a bond set at $20,000 for the attempted capital murder charge and $250,000 for the aggravated assault charge. Rosas, facing additional charges for drug possession, is also in custody at the Harris County Jail with a bond amount of $100,000.

    A Jewish man opened fire on a car in Miami Beach with two passengers inside, mistakenly believing they were

    “Palestinians,”

    as reported by the NY Post. The victims turned out to be a father and son visiting from Israel, according to police.

    Mordechai Brafman, a 27-year-old plumber, allegedly shot 17 rounds at the Hyundai around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, injuring the two Israeli Jews inside before fleeing the scene. He was later apprehended by police in the vicinity, as stated by WSVN-TV News and Ynet News.

    Brafman is currently in custody facing attempted murder charges and is being held without bond at the Miami-Dade County Jail, according to official records. The suspect reportedly confessed to police that he had killed the pair, although authorities confirmed that both individuals were still alive.

    “It should be noted that while in custody in our interview room, the defendant spontaneously stated that while he was driving his truck he saw two Palestinians and shot and killed both,”

    police told the TV outlet. One of the victims sustained a gunshot wound to his left shoulder, while the other suffered a graze wound to his arm, Ynet reported.

    “The victims and the defendant do not know each other,”

    cops added in their statement.

    Police reported that Brafman was traveling on Alton Road just north of 48th Street when he spotted the two victims. He then made a U-turn, approached their car, and opened fire.

    “It was a truck passing next to [us],”

    the younger victim, identified by WPLG-TV as Ari Revay, told the station in Hebrew.

    “Boom, boom, boom, and he randomly started shooting. He put the window down, the driver’s seat, and just blasted,”

    Revay said.

    Hand Grenades Discovered In Goodwill Donation Box Prompt Emergency Evacuation

    Employees at a Goodwill store in Maine found hand grenades concealed in a donation box, prompting an evacuation of the store, according to officials per the NY Post.

    The box, which had been left outside the Goodwill in Augusta, contained what appeared to be military-grade grenades and mortars, stated Morgan Sewall, a spokesperson for Goodwill Northern New England. Upon discovering the explosives on Tuesday morning, employees evacuated the store to allow the Maine State Police Bomb Squad to investigate the situation, Sewall explained.

    The store reopened shortly after 1:10 p.m. once authorities declared the area safe. Customers were assured that the hand grenade was not active, as announced in a Facebook post by Goodwill Northern New England.

    “Unfortunately this is oddly common,”

    Sewall said in the statement.

    “Many New Englanders collect antique weapons in their homes. We ask that people do not donate weaponry. Even if they know it is antique and safe, our store employees do not, and we need to take the precautions we have today,”

    Sewall said. Police do not suspect any ill intent from the individual who left the antique explosive, according to WMTW.

    A family that reported a Florida woman missing in September 2024 is feeling a sense of relief after she was seen in a viral TikTok video this week, giving birth on a New York subway, per The Post.

    Police in Hallandale Beach issued an Endangered Missing Person’s bulletin for 25-year-old Jenny Saint Pierre late last year. Her family had informed authorities that she suffered from schizophrenia and was approximately five to six months pregnant at the time. They last saw her in July, while her ex-boyfriend claimed he hadn’t seen her since a disagreement on August 5.

    However, on Wednesday, Saint Pierre made an unexpected appearance on social media when a subway rider in NYC posted a TikTok video showing her giving birth in a train car.

    “POV: You’re headed to work and you witness someone giving birth on the train,”

    a witness posted. In the video, an individual is seen holding a newborn wrapped in a cloth just moments after the birth. In the background, a recognizable pink bag is visible, which her family identified, along with the sound of Saint Pierre’s voice.

    “Oh, my God, look at her little face!”

    Jenny’s sister Stephania Saint Pierre said to the New York Times while watching the video.

    “Oh, my God, I am going to cry! That’s my first niece!”

    Her mother, meanwhile, said she couldn’t stop rewatching the footage.

    “I’ve been thinking about my daughter every day, praying every day that she’s OK, that her baby is OK. I’m going to sleep good tonight,”

    she told the Times, adding that Jenny is welcome home anytime.

    “We will always be there for her, and for her baby.”

    Law enforcement officials have confirmed that Saint Pierre is the woman seen in the video. They have also confirmed that both she and her newborn daughter are in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital.

    Indiana police report that they prevented a mass shooting that an 18-year-old girl was allegedly planning for her high school on Valentine’s Day, per the NY Post. Trinity Shockley was taken into custody this week just days after authorities discovered her plot to attack Mooresville High School, located southwest of Indianapolis. 

    The FBI provided a tip on Tuesday evening regarding the potential attack, prompting Mooresville police to search Shockley’s home and arrest her. She is currently being held without bail and faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder, making threats of terrorism, and conspiracy to commit intimidation, as reported by Fox 59. 

    If the plan had succeeded, it would have coincided with the seventh anniversary of the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, which resulted in the deaths of 17 people in 2018. Shockley had previously been the focus of a community fundraiser in Mooresville after being struck by a drunk driver while on her way to school in 2022.

    A parolee with almost twenty prior arrests was apprehended Thursday for allegedly attempting to rape and rob a woman in Downtown Brooklyn while impersonating an ICE agent, according to law enforcement and sources cited by the NY Post. 

    Leon Howell, 43, reportedly snatched the iPhone of a 51-year-old woman. The violent incident occurred on Tuesday in the basement of a building located at the intersection of Montague and Henry Streets. The police were able to locate him using the victim’s Find My iPhone app, as noted by the sources.

    Around 10:50 a.m., the woman was waiting for a taxi in the lobby of a building at Montague and Henry Streets. Howell allegedly approached her claiming to be an immigration officer, according to authorities. He then forced her into an elevator and took her down to the basement, police sources reported.

    He reportedly struck her in the face, causing her to fall to the ground. Howell then allegedly removed her pants and underwear until she begged him to stop. The brutal assailant proceeded to take her necklace, cell phone, and purse before fleeing down Montague Street towards Henry Street, according to police. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries and is said to be in stable condition. 

    Investigators suspect that the woman may have been targeted due to her ethnicity or race, sources added. Howell was charged with first-degree rape, first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, third-degree burglary, and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said. With a criminal history that includes 20 previous arrests, Howell was recently paroled just last month after serving time for the 2017 strangulation of a stranger in Brooklyn, sources revealed.
