Former School Bus Driver Accused Of Sexually Abusing Nonverbal Autistic Student

Palmer Township Police Department

On Wednesday, an ex-Pennsylvania school bus driver was apprehended after engaging in a sexual relationship with a minor, reports FOX. 64-year-old Dean D’Amico was charged with several crimes, which included institutional sexual assault and corruption of minors.

The minor he was involved with was a student at Easton Area High School. Reports say she was enrolled in a special needs program called Colonial Intermediate Unit 20. The man drove the minor’s school bus from January 2022 to August 2022. The girl’s mother informed officials that she is nonverbal and on the autism spectrum. She was able to communicate with cops by writing down her responses.

A Palmer Township Police Department spokesman said the former bus driver gave the unidentified student a cellphone and requested for her to create sexual photos and messages. He reportedly gave her the phone during school hours and removed it from her by the end of the day. He told her to leave the photos on the phone and don’t send them to him.

An investigation into D’Amico began after he was discovered with the student in a car in the Easton Area High School’s parking lot. Reports say the discovery was made on December 22. A school officer recognized the vehicle amid patrol. Officials believe he sexually assaulted the girl before they approached his car.
