Reports say a man fatally beat his grandmother with a hammer. According to the New York Post, he was caught after ordering his housekeeper to clean up the scene, officials say. 34-year-old Anthony Michael Corrado is being accused of assaulting his grandmother, who was merely 82. He is also being accused of attacking his grandfather. Reports say Corrado’s grandmother had an order of protection against her grandson at the time. The 34-year-old was released from prison last year as he has a violent past.
After he violently attacked his grandmother, he contacted the housekeeper close to 2:30 pm to aid him in cleaning up the
“real mess,”
says an arrest affidavit, attained by the Naples Daily News. Corrado took the unidentified housekeeper through the bloody home where the attack occurred, leading her to the bedroom where his grandmother’s body was wrapped in a tarpaulin cover. Reports say the grandmother also had a bag on her head. Once the housekeeper attempted to remove the bag, the man stopped her, saying it
“would get blood everywhere,”
according to documents.
Corrado asked the housekeeper to take the body; however, she attempted to persuade him to call officials, which he refused, pleading that he’ll go back to prison. The housekeeper managed to leave the home and wave down a sheriff’s deputy from Collier County. At that time, Corrado then attacked his grandfather, who had arrived back home from the grocery store. Officials later discovered the grandfather, who was assaulted, in another room of the home wrapped in a blanket. He suffered from multiple injuries. The grandfather was transported to the hospital and is predicted to survive.
Officials located a hammer drenched in blood in the kitchen. The man was discovered standing outside of the home. He chose not to talk to officials and was later apprehended and charged with
“second-degree murder and aggravated battery on a person over age 65,”
The Post.
The motive behind the attack is unclear.
