A tragic incident unfolded in Florida when a man allegedly shot his former girlfriend shortly after she had filed a police report against him for stalking, per Fox. The victim’s relatives, devastated and horrified, listened helplessly to her final moments on the phone. 41-year-old Robens Cesar is currently facing charges of first-degree murder in connection to the death of 34-year-old Fridelene Daniel.

During an interview with detectives after the shooting, Cesar admitted that he

“couldn’t stand to see Fridelene with another”

partner and had been attempting to persuade her to reconcile with him, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Law & Crime. Cesar claimed that Fridelene’s decision to report him to the police earlier that day was the tipping point that led him to the shooting

Nearly 40 minutes prior to the shooting, Daniel had filed a complaint with the Boynton Police Department, accusing her former boyfriend of prowling and harassment. Responding to a 911 call around 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, officials discovered Daniel’s lifeless body with several gunshot wounds.

Bystanders informed officials that they witnessed the shooter fleeing the scene in a black Honda. Surveillance footage from the building also captured Cesar. Authorities apprehended him at his residence, approximately four miles away, and he was taken into custody.

According to Daniel’s family, the 34-year-old was conversing on the phone with a family member in Haiti just moments before she was struck. As she arrived at her apartment in her car, the relative allegedly overheard her say,

“Oh, did you bring a gun to kill me?”

After she asked the question, the sound of gunfire rang. Neighbors also reported hearing a series of shots being fired.
