Man Purchased Beer After Reportedly Murdering Pregnant Woman Who Was Discovered In Garbage Bags

Lake County

Juan Vega Montoya of Cook County has been charged with murder for allegedly killing a pregnant woman and dumping her body in the north suburbs. Court records state that Montoya purchased beer after the murder and concealed the victim’s body in his car for two days. On Nov. 26, Vega Montoya was accused of picking up the victim near Cicero and Belden in Chicago, per WGN Chicago.

The prosecutors claim that he killed her by strangling her amid a verbal dispute while they were in his vehicle. Prosecutors also accuse him of buying beer immediately after the murder. When he returned home, he reportedly placed her corpse in the back of his sedan and covered the driver’s window with a shirt to mask it. The following day, he informed officials that he drove north for approximately an hour until the

“expressway turned into a [regular] road.”

Sadly, Lewis’ body was discovered in garbage bags by Hunt Club Road in Old Mill Creek on Nov. 29. Vega Montoya was arrested on Dec. 11, and a DNA test was conducted. Court records mention that Montoya’s earring and fingernail were discovered inside the vehicle. Reports noted that Lewis was 16 weeks pregnant at the time

Detectives discovered that he reportedly sent a text message to his supervisor the day after the crime, claiming that he had overslept and would be arriving to work late.
