A man has been arrested for reporting a child missing and later discovering that the minor was at his home, reports the Miami Herald. The unnamed man reported that the child went missing from his vehicle while he was inside a supermarket in Mansfield.

The report caused officials, supermarket staff members, and state authorities to search through the area to find the child. Surveillance footage later revealed that the man arrived at the store with the child before visiting the store another time later on in the day. However, when he returned, he didn’t have a child.

Almost one hour after the search started, the minor was discovered at home and

“unharmed,”

officials say. Following the discovery, authorities assumed the man was impaired leading them to perform sobriety tests. Reports revealed that he failed to

“perform to standard.”

The man from Mansfield was later arrested and charged with

“operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs, second-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a, and second-degree breach of peace.”
