Man Sentenced To Life In Prison After Killing Wife and Unborn Child By Pushing Them Off Extinct Volcano During Hike

Police Scotland

29-year-old Kashif Anwar from the United Kingdom has been sentenced to life in prison after he was declared guilty of killing his wife, 31-year-old Fawziyah Javed, and their 17-week-old unborn child by shoving them off of an extinct volcano in Scotland back in Sept 2021. BBC reports that Anwar pushed them off of the volcano during a hike causing Javed to fall 50 feet.

After the trial that lasted a week, the jury didn’t buy his story of him accidentally bumping into his wife. Judge Lord Beckett sentenced Anwar to life behind bars and informed him that he committed

“a wicked crime.”

“You showed no remorse and made no attempt to save her,” said the judge.

Anwar, who is from England, can serve a minimum sentence of 20 years.

According to Fox, the woman didn’t immediately die after the fall and revealed that her husband pushed her before succumbing to her wounds at the scene. A hiker, Daniyah Rafique, who first witnessed the woman as she was on the ground, said,

“She told me not to let her husband near her and that he had pushed her.”

When an officer arrived at the scene, Javed told the officer that she was shoved by her husband when she attempted to end their marriage.

Officer Rhiannon Clutton revealed,

“She was writhing in pain, but she was able to speak to me when I asked her questions.”

The woman’s mother said that her daughter complained about  Anwar’s abusive actions and was thinking about leaving the marriage.
