A mother from Texas, 25-year-old Liliana Cervantes, was apprehended on Monday after reportedly fatally stabbing her fiancè, 32-year-old, Nathan Freeman, and then trying to stitch up his wounds, according to the New York Post

Officers arrived at the Houston apartment close to 8:45 p.m. and discovered the mother of two attempting to stitch up her fiancè’s wounds, officials say. Sadly, paramedics declared him deceased. The woman’s 4-year-old child from another relationship and her 6-month-old child she shared with Freeman were at the apartment during the time of the incident.

Freeman’s mother, Tessa Freeman, informed ABC13 that he and Cervantes met on Facebook two years prior and was later engaged. Tessa revealed that the wedding dress was already picked out for the couple’s wedding scheduled to happen in the fall.

The mother revealed,

“My husband and I went to visit them for Thanksgiving, and they seemed perfectly happy. We had dinner with her parents and it was great.”

Officials have yet to reveal the motive behind the act; however, during her probable cause appearance, she informed investigators that she blacked out.

According to records, officials took a butcher knife and another unidentified sharp item from the apartment. An autopsy revealed that the man had three stab wounds, which included one in his chest. The woman is being held on $150,000 bound and her children are not staying with relatives, reports say.

Freeman’s mother says she plans on fighting for the custody of her granddaughter.
