A 14-year-old teen was attacked in his school’s locker room by a parent and four others, and his mother is outraged that little is being done to protect the victim.
In California, freshman football player Dasanni Goodspeed got jumped and attacked inside Dublin High School’s locker room after the parent of another student first squared up with him, CBS News reports.
He suffered a broken nose, bruises, a black eye and a concussion and was reportedly rushed to a local hospital.
“The victim retreated into the boys’ locker room and was followed by the parent and four unknown subjects who were approximately 16 to 19 years of age,” according to a press release issued by Dublin Police Aug. 23. “The four unknown subjects, who were wearing hoodies, reportedly assaulted the victim until the fight broke up, at which time, they fled the area.”
“It started initially one-on-one, the guy sucker punched my son and broke his nose while he was sitting down looking at his phone, and my son got up to fight back and then they all jumped him,” his mother Cherie Barfield tells ABC 7.
“So while I’m outside, she calls …” Dasanni explains, about the adult who approached him.
“N—ers.’ Say what she said,” his mother Cherie Barfield adds. “He (Dasanni) just doesn’t want to say the word. That’s how the mother approached him. It’s on the surveillance film,” Barfield explains.
“She called us that. She asked like that, with that word,” Dasanni added.
“Yeah. But once she said that, the two people next to me, they get up and they scattered,” Dasanni continued. “So she already knows it’s me. So when she says that, all I do is walk away. I wasn’t going to try to argue with her.”
The Dublin Unified School District released a statement saying Dublin PD will “increase its presence on the campus and security measures will be reviewed.
But Barfield wants more accountability from the district. “I just don’t appreciate how Dublin [High] did not contact us and how they’ve been trying to cover up this whole story. I feel like somebody dropped the ball. And we just want answers. We want justice.”
