A family is grieving after learning their relative, James Cooper, 23, was discovered hanging from a tree less than a month after moving to Greenville, Mississippi, according to a GoFundMe campaign launched by Cooper’s family to help bring him home for a proper funeral. Cooper relocated to Mississippi from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with his girlfriend on April 28 to seek a better life. Family members received a call from Greenville officials on May 10 revealing that Cooper was discovered hanging from a tree.
Cooper’s relatives are seemingly seeking answers as it was disclosed on the GoFundMe page that it’s unclear if Cooper’s death was a result of suicide or a homicide. A woman, under the Facebook name, Nadine Hale, who revealed herself as Cooper’s mother confessed that she couldn’t find a lawyer to aid her in her son’s case. She went on to reveal that the initial information she was giving has been retracted.
She wrote in a Facebook post,
“I’m so hurt I can’t find a lawyer to help fight my son’s case. I guess they figure I should’ve reached out when it first happened even tho it’s still under investigation. I’m also piss’d they didn’t preserve my baby body. I was told my baby’s body was intact and looked good despite the hot weather down there. Then when it was time for him to come home they couldn’t embalm him cause he was deteriorating from the inside out. They never stored him in a cold refrigeration. I was told one thing about his death and now it’s being backtracked. My Son was down there a whole week and no one wanted to give the coroner my number not even the detective. I feel I dropped the ball and let my Son down .. I’ll never forgive myself..”
According to the GoFundMe page,
“Losing James has left a giant hole in everyone’s lives. His good looks, great outgoing personality, and his huge heart full of love for his family and friends made him a delight to be around… James was the funniest and most loving member of our family. He was the glue that held us all together.”
#Clique, let’s keep this family in our thoughts and prayers.
