A mother from Oklahoma has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for allowing her ex-boyfriend to rape and impregnate her 12-year-old daughter, according to the New York Post. Desiree Castaneda, 35, had permitted her 24-year-old ex, Juan Miranda-Jara, to live with her daughter after their breakup. Shockingly, Castaneda even threw them a baby shower once she learned of the pregnancy. Miranda-Jara was arrested at the hospital while the young girl was in labor and was later sentenced to 20 years for first-degree rape. Castaneda pleaded guilty to enabling child sexual abuse and child neglect, leading to her 15-year sentence.
Tulsa County DA’s Office expressed sorrow, saying kids should trust parents for protection. In June 2021, the girl arrived at a Tulsa hospital in labor, with Miranda-Jara excited about fatherhood.”Both Miranda-Jara and Castaneda appeared like any other expectant couple, unaware of the approaching arrest. The girl’s mother, who had previously been in a relationship with him, approved of the relationship between Miranda-Jara and her daughter. The girl’s father was in prison for a separate sex crime and had no involvement in her life.
Miranda-Jara received a conviction for first-degree rape and is now serving a 20-year sentence.Castaneda pleaded guilty to child neglect and enabling child sexual abuse. They will both become registered sex offenders once they are released.
According to the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office,
“Both defendants in this case are facing the consequences of their actions and will spend time in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.”
