A U.S. Navy chief petty officer was arrested in Jacksonville, Florida, after reportedly assaulting his girlfriend at his promotion dinner, per Fox 35. The incident occurred at the DoubleTree hotel on Saturday. Kyle Rogemoser, 36, was charged with domestic battery. He was staying at the hotel to celebrate his promotion to chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy.

Police arrived at the hotel around 12:30 a.m. and found Rogemoser with a blood spot on his neck. He was detained, placed in a patrol car, and informed of his Miranda Rights, although he claimed to be too intoxicated to understand them. The victim, Rogemoser’s girlfriend, reported that they had arrived at the hotel around 5 p.m. and had a drink together. During the celebration, they got into a verbal disagreement in their hotel room, and Rogemoser allegedly punched her in the mouth several times.

The woman called for aid, and a witness knocked on the door. The unnamed witness discovered her on the floor crying with red marks on her face and brought her downstairs to the hotel management. The victim requested that her injuries be documented. Police observed red marks on her chin and neck, as well as what looked like fresh blood on her lip.

Rogemoser was apprehended and transported to the Pre-trial Detention Facility. He was later released on bond.
