Unfortunately, a section of a venue that was used for a wedding collapsed leaving two love birds, 26-year-old Paolo Mugnaini and Valeria Ybarra, in the hospital on their wedding day, per Business Insider. The outlet reports that the encounter occurred on Saturday at a venue in Italy.
Not too long before 8 p.m., nearly 60 people were dancing when the floor tumbled causing the guests as well as the newlyweds to fall through the ground. According to MailOnline, the individuals plunged 13 feet.
Mugnaini, the man of the hour, informed medics,
“Everyone was happy.”
He continued,
“Suddenly, I found myself in another dimension, in the dark, in the void,” according to Corriere della Sera.
He added,
“In a moment, I heard bodies falling on me, along with rubble of all kinds, dust, splinters.”
As reported by the newspaper, he witnessed his close friend with a bleeding head injury, prompting him to call out for his newlywed wife, concerned that she might be trapped under the debris. The couple was eventually reunited and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. They were discharged by the local health authority a few hours later.
Reports say 39 people needed to be examined by a doctor following the shocking encounter. According to the local health authority, there were more serious injuries among other guests, and 28 individuals remained hospitalized the following day
The venue owners expressed their confusion about the collapse, calling it a
“tragic and unexpected event.” They also stated their willingness to cooperate with any investigations regarding the incident.
