Actress and Playboy model Pamela Anderson has become candidate about her children witnessing her being “sexualized” by Hollywood while they were growing up.
The model/actress said amid an interview for Variety with Mikey Madison,
“Being a working mom and being in this entertainment world and having your mom be sexualized in some way … a lot of the things I went through, I didn’t realize my kids were going through them at the same time.”
If you’re unaware, in the ’90s, Anderson became a famous sex symbol through her role in Baywatch, where she captured attention running in slow motion in a red swimsuit. She appeared frequently in Playboy, gracing the cover 13 times, setting an all time record. She also faced a scandal when a stolen sex tape with her former husband, Tommy Lee, was distributed.
The 57-year-old, mother to now 28-year-old Brandon, and 26-year-old Dylan with Lee, admitted that she’s not embarrassed by her choices. Anderson confessed that she might have acted differently in hindsight; however, said that life experiences teach you what you might change.
In regards to the type of mother she is to her adult children now, she believes she has
“the freedom to focus on things instead of worrying about a relationship or my family.”
“My kids are grown. I’m free. Now I can play again,”
she said.
In a Variety interview, Anderson’s son Brandon praised her career change from being “objectified” to being admired by women as a respected actress. He said her 2023 memoir, Love, Pamela, and the Netflix documentary Pamela, a Love Story helped, but her film The Last Showgirl truly showcased her acting talents.
“The category she was in before, she was just very objectified … her whole career was just positioned towards the male gaze… And for us to see the shift after we laid all the cards out on the table was shocking to me,”
Brandon said.
“I knew at that point that there was going to be this great shift in her career, because she was no longer this misunderstood or threatening personality,” he continued.
