School Bus Driver Arrested and Charged After Being Accused Of Touching and Exposing Himself With Elementary School Students On Board

An ex-school bus driver from Gwinnett County was apprehended and charged after touching himself in a sexual way with students on board. According to WSB Cox Articles, the incident occurred several times. 63-year-old Steven Wilkins has been charged with

“committing sex crimes on board the bus,”

reports say.

According to an arrest warrant, he exposed himself on four different occasions at Suwanee Elementary School between Jan. 30 and Feb. 9. Officials say that there was at least one child still on the bus each time the 63-year-old exposed himself. Twice there were two children on the school bus.

Director of Media and Community Relations for Gwinnett County Schools, Bernard Watson said,

“A good Samaritan noticed something told us and we were able to address the situation promptly.”

The former bus driver later resigned on Feb. 14 after he was yanked from his normal bus route. Authorities took him into custody on Feb. 27. Reports added that he was employed by the district for four years.

Watson continued,

“All of our drivers have to pass a background check before they’re hired. This former driver did pass a background check.”

Suwanee Elementary Principal, Dr. Mary B. Taylor, sent a letter to parents and school staffers acknowledging the parent who informed the school district, which in turn, caused them to start an investigation.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank the parent who reported her concerns. This allowed police to move quickly to investigate the situation. I encourage our students and community to continue coming to us when they have information or concerns about student safety,”

the principal wrote.
