According to reports and court documents obtained by Fox News Digital, a serial killer from California admitted to authorities that he killed his cellmate, who was a convicted child rapist. Ramon Escobar, the serial killer, was charged with the murder of his cellmate, Juan Villanueva, in September. Escobar confessed to the officer without being questioned, stating that he killed his cellmate because he was a slob. According to Fox News Digital, Villanueva was discovered unconscious in the cell on Feb. 24, not too long before he arrived.
Villanueva had been sentenced to life in prison for sexually assaulting a child under 14 and arrived at the prison just days before his murder. Escobar was already serving multiple life sentences plus 124 years for seven murders in California and Texas. The men were temporarily held together at a medium-security facility while officials prepared to move them into permanent stations.
Court documents reveal that Escobar strangled Villanueva due to his bad hygiene. Previously, Escobar had killed his aunt and uncle in Texas before fleeing to Southern California, where he robbed and killed five men in a span of 14 days in 2018. Escobar is currently serving his life sentence in California after a plea deal spared him from the death penalty in Texas. The remains of his aunt and uncle have never been found.
