Khalid Comes Out as Gay

Khalid admitted to being gay on his social media. While some already suspected the singer’s sexuality, others were shocked after his confession.

“I got outted [sic] and the world still continues to turn,” he wrote. “Let’s get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality it ain’t nobodies business! But I am okay with me, love yall,” he posted on Friday, November 22, on X, formerly Twitter.

When a follower tried to confirm if Khalid was gay, the singer responded, “I am! And that’s okay.” He also posted earlier on Friday on X, putting up an LGBTQ+ flag and asking everyone to move on to the next topic.

Hugo Almonte Alleges Threat to Life

The singer coming out of the closet seemed to be in response to singer Hugo Almonte’s claims. Almonte said he was in trouble because he broke up with Khalid and dissed the gay partner he was with. In a since-deleted post he wrote before posting a photo of him and Khalid together, Almonte revealed:

“One of your favorite gay R&B singers suck my dick and it was really bad. I was dating this dumb-ass singer he’s ugly as fuck but he tried to set me up and lie and say I broke into his house because I broke up with him.”

Almonte continued:

“Why would I go to your house and do all that if I broke up with you[?] Bitch ass [ninja emoji] lied and said that I broke into his house cause I didn’t want him.”

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the singer disclosed that he didn’t intend to out anyone and wasn’t chasing clout as he was accused of doing. Almonte also claimed he had been faced with death threats for some time.

Fans Respond to Khalid’s Sexuality

Several fans responded to Khalid’s posts after he came out as gay, expressing their love and support for him. An X user empathized with the singer, saying he should have been allowed to come out of the closet when he wanted to.

“I’m sorry people are clout chasers,” they added.

However, others wondered why the rest didn’t know Khalid was gay.

“The closet was glass baby. but we accept you. its not about who you love its about your artistry! “a fan wrote.

Another person noted that Khalid all but announced he was gay in 2022 with his song Satellite, to which the singer thanked the fan, adding that he never hid his sexuality.

Khalid has announced he might push back some of his projects to avoid getting accused of stirring up controversy to trend. This will disappoint his fans, who have been waiting for his new releases. However, the singer knows what is best. Hopefully, he makes the right decision and protects his mental health.
