An Airbnb Host’s Son Sentenced To Prison After Secretly Recording Guest In The Shower and Attempting To Blackmail Woman For Explicit Videos, Prosecutors Say

A man from Ceres, California has been sentenced to prison after being found guilty of cyberstalking and blackmailing a guest who stayed in his mother’s Airbnb rental, Insider reported.

Kevin Strutz, aged 51, pleaded guilty to two counts of cyberstalking earlier this year. The incident occurred in 2020 when Strutz began cyberstalking a young woman who had rented a room in his mother’s home through Airbnb. According to the complaint, Strutz and his mother were living in the home when the incident occurred. The woman, who is a traveling occupational therapist, had been staying at the home for around a month.

One day, she came across a disturbing message —

“which talked about how ‘sexy’ she was”

    — on a cell phone in the shared bathroom, which led her to contact Airbnb and find another place to stay. After her departure, Strutz later sent sexually explicit messages to her on Facebook. The woman notified local authorities and Airbnb.

At the time, Airbnb said they had been cooperating with the FBI during the investigation.

“We have no tolerance for the reported behavior and worked quickly to support the survivor once she brought it to our attention, including banning the associated host accounts from our platform at the time,”

    the company told CBS News.

According to prosecutors, Strutz continued to harass the woman for several months. Surprisingly to her, she received a nude image of herself from when she showered in the Airbnb bathroom from Strutz, prosecutors allege. He threatened to send the photo of her to everyone she knew unless she sent him a video of herself masturbating. The woman blocked Strutz’s accounts and reported the incident to the police again.

It was later revealed that Strutz had secretly filmed the woman using a hidden cell phone in the bathroom. Strutz was convicted on two counts of stalking, in addition to a separate incident involving threats towards another victim. He was recently sentenced to over three years in prison, along with supervised release and a fine. Before this conviction, Strutz had a criminal record that included stalking, burglary, robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon.

“This case is a stark reminder that taking the law into your own hands is never the answer and that there are consequences for your actions.”

  • Trump Demands Shoplifters Be ‘Shot’ To End ‘Pillaging and Theft’ During His Speech At The California Republican Party Convention

Trump Demands Shoplifters Be ‘Shot’ To End ‘Pillaging and Theft’ During His Speech At The California Republican Party Convention

In another one of his attempts to

    “Make America Great Again,”

former President Donald Trump promised to

“immediately stop all of the pillaging and theft,”

if he returned to the White House, by urging police to shoot shoplifters, per the NY Post

Amidst a surge in crime rates and bold, daylight shoplifting incidents, Trump directed his focus towards criminals during a passionate speech on Friday night at the California Republican Party convention.

“We will immediately stop all of the pillaging and theft. Very simply: If you rob a store, you can fully expect to be shot as you are leaving that store,”

    the 77-year-old said.

    “Shot!”

Trump said with an added emphasis.

“The word that they shoot you will get out within minutes and our nation, in one day, will be an entirely different place. There must be retribution for theft and destruction and the ruination of our country,”

he added. During his time as President, Trump suggested shooting migrants to stop them from crossing the US-Mexico border. Trump was supported by his followers who cheered him on as he discussed his tough-on-crime plans that proposed opening fire on shoplifters.

According to former Defense Secretary Mark Esper, Trump reportedly asked about shooting protesters during the George Floyd demonstrations. Additionally, Trump has advocated for the death penalty for drug dealers, human traffickers, and those who have killed police officers. In his first year as President, he advised law enforcement officers to be tougher when dealing with suspects, even telling recruits,

    “Please don’t be too nice.”

There has been a recent surge of shoplifting crimes across the country. Most recently, looters in Philadelphia ransacked several retail stores, resulting in extensive damage and leaving numerous businesses with the task of cleaning up the aftermath.

“We will reverse the decline of America and we will end the desecration of your once-great state, California,”

    Trump said Friday.

“This is not a great state anymore. This is a dumping ground. You’re a dumping ground. The world is being dumped into California. Prisoners. Terrorists. Mental patients.”

  • Doctor Arrested After Reportedly Sexually Assaulting Patients and Pretending As If It Was Protocol For ‘Necessary Medical Exams’

Doctor Arrested After Reportedly Sexually Assaulting Patients and Pretending As If It Was Protocol For ‘Necessary Medical Exams’

A doctor in California who specializes in treating LGBTQ+ patients has been accused of sexually assaulting multiple individuals during supposed medical exams. 56-year-old Dr. William Thompson IV was arrested last week in Newport Beach and is now facing various charges, including sexual penetration and oral copulation by fraudulent means, as well as sexual battery, per the New York Post. Six victims came forward after realizing that the tests they had undergone between 2016 and 2020 were unnecessary. These included inappropriate anal exams and forcing a male patient to perform oral sex.

Newport Beach Police Chief Joe Cartwright announced that the thorough investigation uncovered three more victims.

“Many of Dr. Thompson’s patients depended on him to provide life-saving care and he exploited those vulnerabilities for his own sexual gratification. Unfortunately, because of his specialized area of practice, Dr. Thompson put the very patients he was supposed to treat with professionalism and dignity, in a situation where they may have felt they had no other choice but to be subjected to sexual abuse in order to receive the treatment they needed to continue to live,”

Todd Spitzer said the Orange County District Attorney.

“No one should be violated in such a shameful way by someone who has taken an oath to protect their patients,”

    Spitzer continued.

If convicted on all charges, Thompson could face a sentence of 30 years to life plus 25 years. He posted $100,000 bail and is due in court on November 2. It is currently unknown whether he has hired an attorney or not.

The police are continuing their investigation and are encouraging any other potential victims to come forward. Thompson’s online profile on patientfusion.com indicates that he studied medicine at the Autonomous University of Guadalajara Faculty with the purpose of caring for HIV patients who had faced discrimination.

  • California Mom Becomes Quadruple Amputee After Consuming Contaminated Tilapia, ‘She Almost Lost Her Life’

California Mom Becomes Quadruple Amputee After Consuming Contaminated Tilapia, ‘She Almost Lost Her Life’

A California mother underwent life-changing surgery to have all four of her limbs amputated after she consumed contaminated tilapia, which reportedly contained a deadly bacteria, per the NY Post

Laura Barajas, 40, had been hospitalized for several months before the surgery. According to her friend, Anna Messina, Laura who is a mother to a 6-year-old son, had purchased fish from a San Jose market and prepared it at home, she told KRON. However, just a few days later, Laura fell ill.

“It’s just been really heavy on all of us. It’s terrible. This could’ve happened to any of us,”

    said Messina.

“They put her into a medically induced coma. Her fingers were black, her feet were black her bottom lip was black. She had complete sepsis and her kidneys were failing,”

she added. According to Messina, Barajas contracted Vibrio vulnificus, a potentially deadly bacterium commonly found in raw seafood and seawater. As Onsite previously reported, a man from Texas was recently infected by the deadly flesh-eating bacterium after consuming oysters and unfortunately passed away.

“The ways you can get infected with this bacteria are, one, you can eat something that’s contaminated with it [and] the other way is by having a cut or tattoo exposed to water in which this bug lives,”

UCSF Infectious Disease Expert Dr. Natasha Spottiswoode told KRON.

She mentioned that this infection is particularly concerning for individuals with compromised immune systems. The CDC reports an estimated 150 to 200 cases of Vibrio vulnificus annually, with approximately one in five of those affected succumbing to the disease.

Messina has since started a GoFundMe to aid the Barajas family in covering medical expenses and help with any necessary adjustments Laura will need. As of Sunday morning, over $39,000 has been successfully raised through this campaign.

“Little did she know that this simple act would change her life forever,”

    the fundraiser said.

“Laura has been in the hospital for over a month, fighting for her life, she is now a quadruple amputee.”

According to The Las Vegas Review-Journal, authorities have arrested the 17-year-old driver of the Hyundai involved in the incident. • California School District Ordered To Pay $2.5 Million To Sex Abuse Victim Of Teacher Who Had Student’s Baby

California School District Ordered To Pay $2.5 Million To Sex Abuse Victim Of Teacher Who Had Student’s Baby

A Southern California school district has reached a settlement of $2.25 million with a victim of sexual abuse by a teacher, who was impregnated by another student. This settlement adds to the total amount of $8.25 million that the Redlands Unified School District has paid to victims of Laura Whitehurst since her arrest in 2013, reports FOX.

The most recent lawsuit was filed in 2021 by a former student of Redlands High School. The plaintiff’s attorney stated that the student was targeted by Whitehurst between 2007 and 2008 when he was only 14 years old. According to the lawsuit, Whitehurst admitted to engaging in sexual activity with the student approximately 15 times, both at her San Bernardino classroom and her apartment

Whitehurst, an English teacher and soccer coach, pleaded guilty to having unlawful sex with three former students, one of whom is the father of her child. She was sentenced to six months in jail and registered as a sex offender in 2014, the same year she gave birth.

In 2016, the school district agreed to pay an additional $6 million to another victim, who is the father of Whitehurst’s child. The abuse took place over the course of a year, starting when the student was 16 years old.

The victim in the recent lawsuit claimed that officials at Redlands Unified were aware of his relationship with the teacher but failed to alert his family, leading to the ongoing abuse.
