  • Mother Accused Of Fatally Beating Son With Extension Cord, Boy Suffered 1,172 Injuries, Medical Examiner’s Revealed

Mother Accused Of Fatally Beating Son With Extension Cord, Boy Suffered 1,172 Injuries, Medical Examiner’s Revealed

A Seattle mother is accused of murdering her teenage son, after beating him to death with an extension cord, per PEOPLE. Authorities claim that Denaya Young struck her son because she thought he had not finished his chores, according to reports from KIRO, King 5, and the Seattle Times, referencing a police affidavit.

Reports indicate that the medical examiner found the 14-year-old boy had sustained 1,172 injuries from the beating before he died on January 30. The medical examiner suggests that the cause of death was Sudden Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS). SIRS occurs when the body sends excessive blood to various injuries, overwhelming the heart, as noted in the reports.

According to KIRO and the Times, referencing the affidavit, Young reportedly told police that she

    “lost count”

of the number of times she struck her son. During the alleged deadly assault, authorities state that the teen’s three siblings were present in the home, as reported by KIRO. Young faces charges of second-degree murder related to her son’s death.

Woman Accused Of Stealing Someone’s Identity To Teach At Elementary School Where She ‘Assaulted A Special Needs Child,’ Police Say

A South Carolina woman was arrested after she allegedly pretended to be someone else to secure a position at an elementary school, where she is accused of assaulting a student with special needs, per Law & Crime.

Bryia Lattimore Scott was arrested two weeks ago and initially faced a charge of identity fraud for unlawfully obtaining employment. Over a week after her first arrest, authorities announced that she was also charged with an additional count of felony unlawful conduct towards a child related to the alleged attack.

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office released a statement indicating that earlier this month, the Laurens County School District 55 reached out to sheriff’s deputies regarding someone

    “impersonating”

another individual to secure a job at Waterloo Elementary.

An investigation that followed uncovered that Scott had been

    “posing as”

    an individual named

    “Viola Church”

since she began working as a temporary special education teacher for the district in September. She was officially arrested on December 19, 2024, for identity fraud and subsequently released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.

Scott was employed through a third-party agency, reports reveal. She is accused of submitting false identity documents to the hiring agency. An anonymous tipster informed the school principal about the real identity of

    “Ms. Church,”

    leading to the investigation.

“Upon further investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Unit, it was determined that Scott assaulted a special needs child on December 18th,”

    the release states.

“The assault was reported to the administration of the school on December 18th by concerned aides working with students in the same classroom.”

Scott was arrested again on December 30 and charged with unlawful conduct.

  • Pastor Seemingly Shocked After Finding Out Spouse Is Cooperating With Police In Alleged Abuse Of Eight Children

Pastor Seemingly Shocked After Finding Out Spouse Is Cooperating With Police In Alleged Abuse Of Eight Children

A pastor is behind bars for allegedly abusing eight children in his residence, as reported by Law & Crime.  Keith Lynn Holt, 58, from Blackwell’s House of Prayer, seemingly showed his frustration by muttering to himself, leaning back in his chair, sighing, and crossing his legs.

“Wife turned against me. You’re the one who caused it,”

he whispered while alone in the room.

He is scheduled to stand trial on February 25, 2025, in Kay County, Oklahoma. According to police statements from January 17, 2024, the children living in the home suffered substantial abuse. One girl was reported to have bruises on her arms and legs, along with a black eye.

A boy alleged that Keith Holt punched him and threw him down the stairs. Records indicate that Candy Denise Holt, 53, pleaded no contest to three charges of enabling child abuse and one charge of child neglect. On December 13, she was sentenced to a total of 10 years in prison. However, the judge suspended nine of those years, meaning she will only serve one year in Kay County Jail, with credit for time already served.

    Additionally, she is required to

    “testify truthfully,”

according to court documents. In January, she acknowledged hitting one of the children when he was four years old and stated that her husband spanked his two biological children, though she insisted that he never left any marks. She refuted claims of seeing her husband hit the children with wood, asserting that he only used a belt.

Keith Holt, for his part, stated that he never

    “corrected”

certain children because their mother did not want them to experience corporal punishment. The officer said that the five older kids made the allegations and gave them the board that was found behind the TV. He is being charged with three counts of child abuse and one charge of child neglect.

A Southern California man has been sentenced to life in prison for severely assaulting his daughter, leaving her in a paralyzed, vegetative state in 2021, as reported by prosecutors per Law & Crime

Tekquan Alexander, 28, of Thousand Oaks, was found guilty last month on multiple charges, including torture, assault, and corporal injury to a child. The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office announced the sentencing in a news release on Friday morning.

Prosecutors report that Alexander repeatedly assaulted his 4-year-old daughter during Thanksgiving week in 2021. He continued to beat Alani until she lost consciousness in the bathroom of their home.

She was taken to a local hospital and later airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. According to prosecutors, Alani suffered severe injuries, including a brain injury, subdural hematoma, spinal compression, multiple bone fractures, and numerous bruises and abrasions.

Florida Teacher Arrested For Putting 3-Year-Old Autistic Boy In A Headlock While She Read Story To The Class

A teacher in Florida was arrested for putting a 3-year-old boy with autism in a headlock with her legs while reading a story, reports the NY Post

The child was crying, but the teacher continued reading, as reported by the police and seen in a shocking photo. On August 23, a classroom aide was preparing an activity in Vilma Otero’s classroom at Forest Lake Elementary School when she heard the boy crying. She saw the teacher holding him in what looked like a chokehold.

A surprising photo taken by the aide shows Otero, 59, sitting on a stool and reading to the class while the boy is lying on his back underneath her. The child’s face was red from yelling and crying as he tried to wiggle his way out of the teacher’s hold, according to the aide’s statement to the authorities.

The boy, whose name was not mentioned in the report, had difficulty communicating with the police due to his disability. However, he managed to express that he

    “got in trouble at school”

    and said,

    “She hurt me,”

according to the report. When talking to the young boy, deputies saw some redness on his neck.

Otero told the authorities that she has been a teacher for 36 years, mostly working with special needs kids. She claimed that it’s normal to move a child to another room when they need to calm down and denied restraining the boy as the aide described. Otero is facing a serious charge of child abuse.

10-Year-Old Bedridden Boy Starves To Death After Mom Suffers Fatal Overdose Inside NYC Apartment

A 10-year-old boy who was reportedly immobile and relied on a feeding tube has tragically died of starvation, reports the NY Post

His mother, who had several run-ins with the Administration for Children’s Services, accidentally overdosed in their Bronx apartment. Police discovered their bodies late Wednesday after receiving complaints about a bad smell coming from their apartment in the Marble Hill housing complex.

The 39-year-old mother, whose name has not been disclosed, had been looked into by child services for abuse and neglect, reports note. There was a time when her son was taken away from her, but he was later returned.

Many people, including officials, were upset by this tragic incident and believe it could have been prevented if child services hadn’t made a big mistake.

“If you investigate a parent and return a child who later dies, that is a crime and someone needs to be held accountable,”

an investigator said to The Post.

“You can’t hide behind bureaucracy: ACS needs a total overhaul. This happens too many times, and one time is too much because we are talking about defenseless children.”

  • 12-Year-Old Girl Passes Away After Parents Attempt To Treat Serious Injuries With Smoothies, Police Say

12-Year-Old Girl Passes Away After Parents Attempt To Treat Serious Injuries With Smoothies, Police Say

A 12-year-old girl from Texas passed away on Monday after her mother and stepfather waited four days to get her medical attention for serious injuries, reports NBC News. Instead of taking her to a doctor, they tried to treat her with smoothies. Miranda Sipps, a cheerleader at Jourdanton Junior High School in Christine, Texas, was found in very bad condition when her mother called 911 on Monday evening, according to the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency responders met them on the highway after they left their home and quickly took the unconscious girl to the hospital.

Unfortunately, Sipps was declared dead shortly after arriving in the emergency room.

An investigation by the sheriff’s office found that Sipps had serious and life-threatening injuries the Thursday before her death.

For four days, her mother and stepfather did not seek medical help, even though she was mostly unconscious. No other children were living in the home.

“She was not talking. She basically could flutter her eyes and move her hands a little bit over a four-day period,”

Sheriff David Soward said at a news conference,

“and they had her laying on a pallet in the house.”

Soward added that the couple tried

“to give her smoothies, but somebody who is unconscious is not able to swallow.”

The mother was identified as 36-year-old Denise Balbaneda, and the stepfather, Gerald Gonzales, 40. They were both arrested on Tuesday afternoon and charged with a first-degree felony for injury to a child by omission. Investigators think the couple didn’t seek medical care to keep the police away from their home. The cause of Sipps’ injuries is still being investigated.

  • Father Who Just Won Custody Of His Toddler Arrested For Allegedly Beating Him To Death, Reports Say

Father Who Just Won Custody Of His Toddler Arrested For Allegedly Beating Him To Death, Reports Say

A father, Daniel Hardcastle, has been found guilty of killing his two-year-old son, Damion Russell, per Mirror. Hardcastle initially claimed that Damion died after hitting his head on a coffee table, but a pathologist discovered that the injuries were not consistent with this claim.

It was later revealed that Hardcastle had assaulted his son, resulting in an adult human bite mark on his thigh, fractured ribs, and bruising on his body. The pathologist determined that Damion’s injuries were likely caused by forcefully shaking him and banging his head against a solid object, like a coffee table.

The pathologist also mentioned that Hardcastle could have caused Damion’s head to forcefully hit an object, which could have resulted in injuries to his neck and eyes. After Hardcastle was found guilty of murder, a heartbreaking video was released, showcasing adorable pictures of Damion and footage of him playing in an outdoor area.

Following the assault in August of last year, Damion was taken to the hospital, but his injuries were severe and ultimately fatal. He tragically passed away two days later. During the trial, the jury learned that in the weeks leading up to the attack, Hardcastle had been drinking more and had isolated himself from his support network.

During the trial at Preston Crown Court, it was revealed that Hardcastle, who was the sole caregiver of his son, had spent the entire night talking to a woman he had recently met online, just two nights before the tragic incident. Hardcastle, who resided in Blackpool, Lancashire, was ultimately found guilty of murder after a four-week trial. The jury took only two hours to deliberate before reaching their verdict, reports note.

Florida Woman Allegedly Broke Into Ex-Husband’s House To Stab Him While He Was Asleep

A Florida woman, Melinda Gould, was arrested after breaking into her ex-husband’s home and attempting to stab him while he was asleep, reports Law & Crime. The incident occurred in the early morning hours of April 26, and authorities responded to a 911 call from the woman’s boyfriend’s current partner.

When law enforcement arrived they found Gould’s van in the driveway and discovered her inside the house, where she was restrained by the boyfriend. Fortunately, the ex-husband’s three children, who were also present, were unharmed but traumatized by the incident. Gould now faces charges of aggravated assault, armed burglary, and child abuse.

“I just had to scare him,”

Gould could be heard telling a deputy on body camera video. She admitted to attempting to purchase a gun to harm her ex-husband, but when unsuccessful, resorted to grabbing a knife from their kitchen instead.

“What would you have done if you got the gun,”

    the deputy asked Gould.

“I would have blew his brains out… And not thought twice about it,”

    she responded

An hour before the incident, Gould called 911 for a wellness check at her ex-husband’s home due to a nightmare involving gunshots where her children were staying. When informed that there was no suspicious activity, she responded

    “go f**k yourself,”

    officials said.

Gould had previously been trespassed from the home and is now facing charges of trespassing and battery after a fight with another inmate. She is currently held without bond in the Flagler County jail.
