  • NYPD Seeks Arrest Warrant for Babysitter Caught on Video Hitting NYC Kids with a Belt

NYPD Seeks Arrest Warrant for Babysitter Caught on Video Hitting NYC Kids with a Belt

The NYPD is trying to obtain an arrest warrant for a city-funded babysitter who was caught on video beating two boys from the Bronx with a belt, according to the NY Post. The incident, reported by the family nearly a month ago, has been confirmed by law enforcement sources on Tuesday.

Authorities are actively looking for 24-year-old La’keysha Jackson, who was allegedly caught on video hitting the crying children, aged 4 and 6, nearly 60 times inside their home in Morrisania on May 6, the sources revealed. As of Tuesday, officers had not yet been able to find Jackson for arrest.

If a grand jury issues an arrest warrant when it meets on Wednesday, police will be able to enter Jackson’s apartment by force to take her into custody, the sources added. The disturbing footage obtained by The Post shows the caregiver violently whipping the children’s backsides while holding their small arms to prevent them from escaping.

    “Guess what’s about to happen?”

she can be heard saying, apparently upset that the two older kids, aged 4 and 6, did not clean up their room.

    “Belt?”

one of the young boys answers. Pulling a thick brown belt out of a cross-body bag, Jackson replies

“You’re right — I warned y’all,” chillingly adding: “Drop ‘em.”

According to the family, Jackson also

“Hit the kids with the [clothes] hangers, hitting them with belts, [and] throwing the [2-year-old] baby.”

Their mother, Geraldine Jaramillo, has also claimed that the babysitter subjected the children to emotional and verbal abuse. Jackson was hired by Selfhelp, a home aid provider contracted by the troubled Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), as part of a homemaking program designed to assist struggling families in the city with babysitting services. An ACS spokesperson stated that Jackson is no longer employed by Selfhelp and that ACS is collaborating with the NYPD in their investigation.

California Father Discovers In-Home Therapist Molesting His 14-Year-Old Son with Autism During Session

An in-home behavioral therapist was apprehended for molesting a 14-year-old boy with autism after the concerned father checked on their therapy session, according to a report per the NY Post.

Salvador Armando Arriaga, 32, who worked for Behavioral Health Works in Anaheim, was discovered in a walk-in closet in the teen’s bedroom with the boy’s pants down during the session, as stated by the Orange County District Attorney, according to CNS.

At the time of the session, the boy’s father was at home caring for another child. He decided to check in on his 14-year-old son and the therapist, whom they had trusted as he had treated the boy multiple times before. Upon opening the bedroom door, the father found Arriaga in the closet with his son, who had his pants around his ankles, prosecutors reported.

When confronted by the father, Arriaga attempted to escape through the bedroom window but failed and instead fled the house on foot. The father then called the police, as reported by CNS. Later, when Arriaga returned to the scene to speak with law enforcement, he was allegedly wearing a different shirt, according to prosecutors.

Arriaga has pleaded not guilty to one count of committing a lewd act on a child under 14. He faces a potential maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison and is currently being held on a $1 million bail, as reported by CNS.

Teacher Terminated for Allegedly Hitting Students with Yardstick for Taking Too Long to Wash Hands

A mother is furious after claims that a teacher struck her child with a yardstick for taking too long to wash her hands, as reported by MIRROR.

According to the mother, the incident took place at Sousa Middle School in Washington DC, where a teacher allegedly swatted her 14-year-old daughter’s bottom while she was washing her hands after a science project. The mother stated that the incident occurred just as the school bell rang, with the teacher urging her daughter to hurry up. The student later reported the incident to the school counselor.

The District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) is currently looking into the incident. Janel Doy Johnson, the mother of the teenager, told FOX5 that there are reportedly additional allegations of inappropriate behavior involving the teacher. The student also alleged that the teacher placed a brush given by another student into his pocket, suggesting that he did this so she would have to reach into his pocket to retrieve it.

In response, school principal Brittany Green-Pascal sent a letter to parents stating,

“I am writing to make you aware that an allegation of corporal punishment has recently been made against a Sousa staff member. DCPS treats any allegation of employee misconduct with the greatest importance.”

The letter also stated that the staff member has been put on leave and will not be returning to the school during the ongoing investigation, as reported by Fox5.

  • Teacher Accused of Using Electronic Dog Whistle on 6-Year-Old Student with Autism When He Became ‘Loud’

Teacher Accused of Using Electronic Dog Whistle on 6-Year-Old Student with Autism When He Became ‘Loud’

A Texas woman, who was an elementary school teacher, is accused of using an electronic dog whistle on one of her students to get him to comply, according to Law&Crime.

As per arrest documents obtained by local CBS affiliate KWTX, 46-year-old #AmberEscamilla was arrested on Tuesday and charged with injury to a child or disabled person. The documents reveal that Escamilla was teaching a 6-year-old boy with autism and allegedly used the electronic dog whistle “when he got overstimulated.” The boy’s parents informed the police that their son wore earmuffs to school due to his heightened sensitivity to loud noises.

KWTX reported that detectives from the Waco Independent School District police were notified by Child Protective Services about potential abuse involving a student at Bell’s Hill Elementary School. According to the arrest documents, in November 2024, Escamilla allegedly “came into the break room and placed a device on the table, telling co-workers that she had this for when the victim ‘gets loud.’”

Texas Teacher is Reported by Witnesses

The school principal informed detectives that she confiscated an electronic dog whistle from Escamilla that same month. When questioned about the device, Escamilla reportedly claimed that she only meant to use the dog whistle outside and that she had only ever used it once on the school playground. She further stated to detectives, according to the arrest documents, that “she would only exhibit the whistle to the victim as a threat to gain compliance.”

However, a witness provided a sworn statement saying that in September 2024, “she entered the defendant’s classroom and observed the defendant utilizing the electronic whistle to gain compliance of the victim,” as reported by KWTX. Escamilla is no longer working at Bell’s Hill Elementary School, according to a spokesperson from the Waco Independent School District. She has been charged with injury to a child or disabled person and was jailed with a bond set at $3,000.

  • Boy’s Post-It Note Reveals Abuse by Father’s Girlfriend Who Smothered him During an Assault, Police Say

Boy’s Post-It Note Reveals Abuse by Father’s Girlfriend Who Smothered him During an Assault, Police Say

A woman in Florida has been accused of mistreating her boyfriend’s children after one of them left a Post-it note that said, “Please help us,” as reported by Law & Crime.

Investigations into Katrina Carrillo, 25, began in March when her boyfriend’s 9-year-old son wrote the note asking for help, according to police documents obtained by WPLG, a local ABC affiliate. The note was dated March 4, but it remains unclear where it was found and who discovered it first.

Nonetheless, the note prompted someone to notify the Florida Department of Children and Families, which intervened to remove the boy and his brother from Carrillo’s care, according to WPLG. The 9-year-old who wrote the note spoke with forensic interviewers, as detailed in the police report. During the interview, he alleged that Carrillo had pinned him to the ground and beat him, then attempted to suffocate him with a blanket and a pillow over his face. The boy reportedly expressed to the interviewer that it felt as if he “was not breathing.”

When police spoke with Carrillo at the Miami Police Department headquarters, she allegedly denied the allegations. According to the report, she stated that “she disciplines her children and not her boyfriend’s.” Despite her denial, Carrillo was arrested and faced felony child abuse charges. She posted $5,000 bail the same day after being booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami on Wednesday.

Carrillo appeared in court on Thursday, where she was ordered to keep her distance from her boyfriend’s children.

  • Disturbed Parents Plead Guilty to Forcibly Tattooing Their Young Children After Restraining Them, Then Attempting to Remove Ink with Lemon Juice

Disturbed Parents Plead Guilty to Forcibly Tattooing Their Young Children After Restraining Them, Then Attempting to Remove Ink with Lemon Juice

A couple from Texas has pleaded guilty to forcibly tattooing their two young children while they were restrained, gagged, and blindfolded, according to the NY Post

The mother and stepfather, Megan and Gunner Farr, confessed to using a staple to tattoo their 5 and 9-year-old children. Following a report to Child Protective Services, they desperately attempted to erase the tattoos by scraping and scrubbing the children’s skin so intensely that “flesh was removed,” as reported by KTRE.

“There were visible injuries on the child at the specific location of the tattoo and it appeared that the flesh was removed from the body at the tattoo location,” interim Zavalla Police Chief Lt. James Denby said when the disturbed couple was arrested on April 24, 2023.

    Details of Horrific Abuse

Police reported that Megan, 27, and Gunner, 23, restrained the children with rope, blindfolded them with a rag, and taped their mouths shut before using a pointed needle to tattoo their skin. The couple marked the 5-year-old’s foot and the 9-year-old’s shoulder, as detailed in an arrest affidavit obtained by the news outlet.

On April 17, 2023, the children’s biological father and stepmother alerted Child Protective Services after noticing the tattoos and questioning Megan Farr, who reportedly laughed before driving away. The CPS investigation led the disturbed parents to attempt to remove the tattoos by cutting, scraping, and scrubbing the children’s skin with lemon juice, according to the affidavit. Officials later removed both children, along with their younger siblings, from the home.

Megan Farr pleaded guilty on Thursday to causing injury to a child, as reported by the outlet. She is slated to receive her sentencing in May. Gunner Farr pleaded guilty on March 20 and was sentenced to five years in prison for bodily injury charges and an additional two years for unlawful restraint, according to KTRE.

  • Long Island Teacher Accused of Dropping Textbooks on Special Needs Student’s Head and Locking One in a Closet

Long Island Teacher Accused of Dropping Textbooks on Special Needs Student’s Head and Locking One in a Closet

A Long Island school is under fire for reportedly taking no action while a former teacher “tormented” special needs second graders, as reported by the NY Post.

Former Cornwall School teacher, John O’Dwyer, is accused of various forms of abuse. These include dropping textbooks on kid’s heads, as detailed in a recent legal filing and echoed by upset parents. The filing is seeking $20 million in damages.

    Details of O’Dwyer’s Alleged Abuse

O’Dwyer is accused of mistreating one frightened boy by dragging him across the classroom and even locking him in a dark closet while he cried out for help.

The claim, which serves as a precursor to a civil lawsuit against a municipal agency, asserts that the school not only “failed to prevent” O’Dwyer’s misconduct but was also made aware of the abuse and “did nothing about it.” In the first of several claims being filed against the West Hempstead Union Free School District and Cornwall School, one family alleges that O’Dwyer specifically targeted their son for “humiliating abuse,” inflicting both physical and mental “torment” that included kicking and punching him.

“We will uncover the full truth of what happened — and expose how the West Hempstead Union Free School District allowed this cruelty to continue for so long,” said Nathan Werksman, a partner at Merson Law, PLLC.

The mother who submitted the notice of claim stated that her son, who has special needs, informed her that the alleged abuse occurred frequently throughout the 2023-2024 school year. An assistant teacher was “present for much of the abuse” and the school “ignored complaints about O’Dwyer’s behavior,” according to the claim.

According to the father of the victim, several other families are also preparing to take legal action. The father, who requested to remain anonymous, reported that O’Dwyer would take a textbook—”a heavy, old-fashioned textbook”—and throw or drop it onto the students’ heads.

Mother Arrested for Allegedly Forcing Young Child to Wear Dog’s Shock Collar, Police Say

A New Jersey mother was arrested for allegedly using an electric shock collar intended for dogs on her young child, according to officials per the NY Post

Kimberly Cruz-Feliciano, 30, from Cape May, NJ, was taken into custody on March 17 after her child arrived at school with noticeable marks on their neck, raising concerns among teachers, as stated by the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office in a news release. Investigators determined that these marks were caused by an electric collar, meant to shock dogs when they bark, that the mother had made the child wear, according to the release.

Shock collars are designed to deliver electrical charges of up to 100 volts. During the investigation, Cape May officials discovered that Cruz-Feliciano further threatened her child with additional violence if the child reported the abuse, the release stated. “We take all allegations of child abuse with the utmost seriousness, and we will continue to ensure that those responsible for such heinous acts are held fully accountable under the law,” Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffery H. Sutherland said in a statement.

Cruz-Feliciano faces two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, two counts of Aggravated Assault, one count of Witness Tampering with a threat of force, and one count of Hindering. A daycare worker in Kentucky has been arrested after she reportedly confessed to pulling a toddler’s hair and “removing a substantial amount of hair from the child’s head,” according to local authorities as reported by PEOPLE

Kesha Cochran, 24, was taken into custody following the incident at a daycare in Leitchfield, Ky., on Tuesday, March 11, as stated by the Leitchfield Police Department. • Illegal Immigrant in Long Island Killed His 2-Month-Old Daughter Because He Believed She Wasn’t His Baby

Illegal Immigrant in Long Island Killed His 2-Month-Old Daughter Because He Believed She Wasn’t His Baby

An illegal immigrant is accused of murdering his 2-month-old daughter because he doubted her paternity, per the NY Post. The suspect, 20-year-old Marlon Rabanales-Pretzantzin, allegedly slapped little Liseyda Rabanales-Barrios in the face, punched her in the stomach, and shook her violently inside his Inwood home on March 7, as stated in the criminal complaint.

He reportedly threw her onto a bed and deliberately pressed his fist into her chest. The infant was left with rib injuries and a fractured vertebra in her neck due to the shaking. The young father was charged with murder on Wednesday after he confessed to taking the life of the baby.

Rabanales-Pretzantin told police that “although he is listed as the father on the birth certificate, he suspects that he is not the father so he lost affection for the baby and felt some kind of animosity,” Nassau County Detective Lieutenant Scott Skrynecki told The Post. A 911 call was made reporting that the baby had “rolled off the bed” in the home located near Maple Road and Elm Road at approximately 10:40 a.m., according to police.

An autopsy conducted by a medical examiner determined that the cause of death was homicide. Authorities stated that Rabanales-Pretzantzin, a migrant from Guatemala, crossed the Mexico-El Paso border in 2022. He was detained by Border Patrol and subsequently released, as noted by Skrynecki. Afterward, Rabanales-Pretzantzin traveled to Virginia before arriving in Nassau County. He was arraigned in Nassau County Court on Thursday and is being held without bail.
