  • Alaska Mother Charged for Allegedly Leaving Toddler in Freezing Car to Go to ‘Romantic Rendezvous’ at Hotel

Alaska Mother Charged for Allegedly Leaving Toddler in Freezing Car to Go to ‘Romantic Rendezvous’ at Hotel

A mother in Alaska has been charged after reportedly leaving her child alone in a vehicle while she had a “romantic rendezvous” at a hotel, as reported by PEOPLE

According to a news release from the Alaska Department of Public Safety State Troopers division, 38-year-old Lillian Johnson was arrested on a first-degree charge of endangering the welfare of a child. On Tuesday, March 18, dispatchers received a call from a worried citizen. They reported hearing a child crying in a parked car. When troopers arrived, they discovered a 20-month-old child “abandoned in a car” outside a local hotel and bar in Healy, Alaska, as stated in the release.

“The child was crying, the vehicle was off, with a window partly opened with outside temperatures at 6 degrees Fahrenheit,” state troopers said. EMS personnel were called to the scene, where they “removed the child from the vehicle” and provided treatment for “hypothermia.” The child was then taken by medics to “the EMS/Fire Department for additional treatment,” per the release. “The child was treated for early stages of hypothermia,” state troopers said.

Authorities Launched Investigation into the Incident

Officials reported that the child’s mother was not “immediately found” when the toddler was taken for further medical care. However, she “exited the hotel after EMS had already left with her child.” Alaska State Troopers launched an investigation into the incident and obtained hotel security footage from that evening. The footage reportedly shows that Johnson was inside the hotel for around 35 minutes, from approximately 8:18 p.m. to 8:53 p.m., “before returning to check on the child” and discovering that the 20-month-old was no longer there.

Investigators said their investigation revealed that Johnson had “left her child in the car to have a romantic rendezvous with a guest at the hotel.” No further details have been provided.

  • Texas Parents Arrested After Daughter Found Walking Along Busy Highway Because Father Refused to Drive Her to School, Police Say

Texas Parents Arrested After Daughter Found Walking Along Busy Highway Because Father Refused to Drive Her to School, Police Say

The parents of a young girl in Texas are facing charges for putting her safety at risk after her father refused to drive her to school, leaving her to walk alone in the early morning hours, as reported by WFLA.

Ta’Lyjah Monea Conner, 23, and Devonte Tremayne Hall, 27, were arrested by Midland police after their daughter was seen walking alone along Rankin Highway while it was still dark outside. Officers responded to reports about the girl and eventually located her on the busy road’s 1600 block. According to KMID, a local ABC affiliate, the girl told police that she was on her way to her elementary school because her father refused to take her.

The officers put the girl in their cruiser to warm her up and provided her with a snack. The child told officers that it was her first time walking to school from home. KMID estimated that the walk from her residence to Pease Magnet Elementary School would take about an hour and a half, and police believed she had already been walking for approximately 45 minutes.

The girl informed police she didn’t know where she was going and had almost been hit by a car while crossing the street, reports note. KMID traced her route and estimated she was still an hour and a half away from her school. Authorities interviewed Conner and Hall and arrested them for abandoning or endangering a child. They were booked into the Midland County Detention Center and later posted bail.

  • Charges Dropped Against Trio Accused of Putting 6-Year-Old in Laundromat Dryer for Crying Over Lost Bag of Chips

Charges Dropped Against Trio Accused of Putting 6-Year-Old in Laundromat Dryer for Crying Over Lost Bag of Chips

Texas authorities have dismissed charges against three individuals accused of forcing a 6-year-old boy into a laundromat dryer and turning it on for a minute, per Law & Crime. The alleged incident took place on November 11, 2024, at the Hi Tek Washateria in Houston, as reported by the Harris County Constable Precinct 4.

However, prosecutors dropped the charges last week at the “request of the complaining witness,” according to court documents. All three suspects were initially facing charges of child endangerment. As previously reported by Law&Crime, the boy was not seriously injured but was found “visibly shaking and crying,” according to police.

    Suspects Face Additional Charges

The case against them concerning allegations of fleeing from law enforcement and possession of a stolen firearm is still ongoing, as noted in the court docket. When officers attempted to apprehend one of the suspects, he allegedly fled. During the chase, a woman, later identified as 19-year-old Life Ford, obstructed the officers’ path. Eventually, law enforcement managed to apprehend the fleeing suspect, 20-year-old Jaqory Gill, while the third suspect, 18-year-old Haven Duncan, was found to be in possession of a stolen gun.

Detectives reviewed footage from the laundromat showing Duncan forcibly placing the boy into a dryer, while Ford allegedly closed the door and Duncan held it shut. Gill reportedly paid for the cycle and pressed the “on” button, leaving the boy inside for a minute. Afterward, Duncan took him out and placed him in a laundry cart, which Gill and Ford swung around in a “very aggressive manner,” cops allege.

A witness who called the police said the incident occurred because the boy was crying over a lost bag of chips, and the suspects wanted to punish him. Gill faces charges for evading arrest on foot, while Ford is charged with interfering with a public servant, in addition to the gun charges. All three were taken to the Harris County Jail.

Mother Sentenced for Accidentally Hitting Daughter with Vehicle While Pretending to Abandon Children

A mother from South Bend, Indiana is currently incarcerated following an incident involving her eight-year-old daughter during a game that took a tragic turn, as reported by Too Fab. Initially pleading not guilty, Jasmine White, 27, eventually accepted a plea deal in January 2025, according to CBS affiliate WYMT.

White received a nine-year prison sentence with the option for work release, and five of those years were suspended, according to the St. Joseph Prosecutor’s Office. After her release, she will be on probation for two years. In September 2024, she was charged with one count of neglect of a dependent resulting in serious injury, and one count of neglect of a dependent placing the dependent in a dangerous situation, after police claimed she accidentally ran over her daughter, as detailed by NBC affiliate WNDU.

    Tragic Incident

According to court documents obtained by WSBT, police arrived at the location around 5:48 p.m. on August 29, 2024. Upon their arrival, they discovered the eight-year-old girl “bleeding severely near the entrance to the parking lot.” She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where doctors diagnosed her with “skull and orbital fractures, the loss of five teeth, various abrasions, and a large facial laceration that had exposed a portion of the front of her skull,” per the filing.

Witnesses informed the police that the girl and her four siblings were running alongside White’s vehicle at an apartment complex, where she would pretend to abandon them. According to the six-year-old, as reported by the police, White was driving faster than normal during this instance. When her older sister’s foot became trapped under a tire, the child stated that her sister was gripping the door handle when she fell, striking her head hard. Doctors managed to stabilize the girl, and after several days of intubation and IV sedation, she was finally released.

  • Father Struck By Car Driven By His 9-Year-Old Son, Was Allegedly Drunk While Giving Him A Driving Lesson

Father Struck By Car Driven By His 9-Year-Old Son, Was Allegedly Drunk While Giving Him A Driving Lesson

An Ohio man was injured after he reportedly tried teaching his young son how to drive while drunk, reports PEOPLE

Clejuan Marquis Williams, 36, was allegedly

    “intoxicated”

when he allowed his 9-year-old son to take the wheel on Sunday, Oct. 6. This information comes from an affidavit filed by Officer Nicole Tucker and reviewed by PEOPLE.

While his son was in the driver’s seat, Williams allegedly

    “instructed”

    him

“to press one of the pedals,”

    but the child

“did not know which one that was,”

    and accidentally

    “placed the vehicle in reverse,”

according to the affidavit. The car then rolled back and hit a pole across the street, as noted by the officer, who spoke to several witnesses and referenced a video.

Tucker alleged in the affidavit that the father

“violated the duty of care and protection for his child by allowing him to operate a motor vehicle,”

    and that his

“actions created a substantial risk of harm”

    to both the father and

“the very young child standing right near the vehicle as this occurred.”

Williams is facing charges for one count of first-degree misdemeanor endangerment of children by creating a substantial risk to their health or safety, as well as wrongful entrustment of a vehicle to a person who does not have a valid license, according to summonses issued in the cases and obtained by PEOPLE.

He was taken to the hospital, but there’s no update on his condition, according to WTOL 11. Officer Tucker mentioned in the affidavit that Williams received a copy of the summons because he couldn’t be booked due to his injuries. It’s not clear if he was booked later at the Lucas County Corrections Center, but an online record shows he wasn’t listed as incarcerated since Monday. The affidavit also stated that no one else was reported injured.

Jennifer Delgado, a 32-year-old woman from Texas, is in trouble with the law after police discovered five children, including two babies, left alone in her car. The car was found in a small ditch following a police chase, reports Law & Crime.

The police chase occurred on August 11 at about 8:45 p.m. when deputies from McLennan County went to check out a report of a domestic disturbance on Martin Drive, as reported by Fox affiliate KWKT.

A couple was heard arguing loudly, sources say. Witnesses told the police one person involved in the fight crashed their car in front of a house and then drove away.

According to Texas CBS affiliate KWTX, deputies soon saw the car, which they believed was being driven by Delgado, speeding down Bob Johnson Road in China Spring.

An officer turned on the lights and sirens to pull her over, but she didn’t stop. Instead, she sped away down China Spring Road.

Police had to stop chasing her because they saw several kids in the car through the windows. Shortly after, a deputy found Delgado’s maroon Ford SUV in a small ditch off East Cougar Lane, but she was not inside the vehicle.

When deputies got closer to the SUV and looked inside, they found three children and two infants. Emergency medical responders checked on all the children. According to an affidavit obtained by the outlet,

“Three of the children stated their mommy was driving fast.”

The police got a call about Delgado after the accident, which helped them locate her. A witness reported seeing the 32-year-old woman in her backyard panicking and saying she needed to go back to her SUV. Delgado was arrested and taken to the McLennan County Jail. She faces charges of endangering a child, evading arrest or detention, and fleeing from a police officer.

Florida Man Arrested For Allegedly Dropping 4-Year-Old Head First From Second Story Balcony After Drinking With Child’s Mother He Met Hours Earlier; Told Mother He Wanted To Scare Him

A Florida man is accused of dangling a 4-year-old from a second-floor balcony and accidentally dropping the boy on his head, per the NY Post. The incident occurred after Brandon Gilmore, 31, and the boy’s mother met at the Sandlewood Beach Resort and spent the day drinking together. The two reportedly met five hours earlier at the hotel pool.

Gilmore then took the woman’s son outside the room to frighten him, WESH-TV News reported.

“He was just like swinging in, playing with them,”

eyewitness Dasanni Bentley told the outlet.

“And then he let him go, and he had him by one foot. And then the kids slipped right out of him and fell directly on his head on the concrete — no grass.”

After the boy fell to the ground, Gilmore and the boy’s mother quickly ran downstairs.

    “His face started turning purple,”

she said of the injured boy.

“He obviously was getting no oxygen. It was not a good situation.”

  • Parents Found Allegedly Passed Out Drunk On Florida Beach While Their Kids Wandered Off To A Nearby Pool

Parents Found Allegedly Passed Out Drunk On Florida Beach While Their Kids Wandered Off To A Nearby Pool

A Georgia couple allegedly fell asleep drunk on a Florida beach while their young children wandered away, according to Volusia County sheriffs per the NY Post.

The incident was captured on body camera footage by deputies, who made multiple attempts to wake Alyssia Langley and her fiancé Timothy Stephens. The footage showed the deputies nudging Stephens, who had his arm around his girlfriend.

Once the couple finally woke up, they appeared confused. A deputy asked them where their children were, and Stephens simply pointed towards the ocean while stumbling in the sand. Fortunately, the children, ages five and seven, were found safe but unsupervised, playing in the hotel pool nearby.

Langley and Stephens now face charges of felony neglect, and Stephens also faces charges for attempting to flee from police and possessing alcoholic beverages on the beach. In the body camera footage, he can be seen breaking free from the deputies and attempting to run away, before falling face first in the sand, knocking himself out.

Fox reports that Stephens is not the children’s biological father but has

    “assumed a guardian role.”

“And clearly these two clowns shouldn’t be in charge of — they can’t be in charge of themselves, let alone a five-year-old or a seven-year-old,”

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood told Fox 35.

  • Father Arrested After Gun Was Found In 3-Year-Old’s Backpack At Pre-School

Father Arrested After Gun Was Found In 3-Year-Old’s Backpack At Pre-School

A 3-year-old boy in San Antonio, Texas, showed up to his pre-school with a handgun in his backpack, leading to the arrest of his father, Pete Robles, reports the NY Post.

The incident occurred at the West Side Pre-K 4 SA center, where teachers discovered the gun in the child’s backpack.

“The child was unaware that the gun was in the backpack,”

Pre-K 4 SA officials noted. As a result, the school has temporarily banned backpacks on campus. An off-duty parks officer, who was providing security at the school, helped seize the weapon and reported it to the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).

In response to the incident, the police will maintain an increased presence at the school for the foreseeable future. The 3-year-old boy has been placed in the custody of Child Protective Services, while Robles was booked and released on a $4,500 bond. He faces charges of felony child endangerment. Additional charges and arrests may be made pending further investigation.

This incident prompts reflection on a similar occurrence earlier this year at Richneck Elementary School in Virginia. In that case, a 6-year-old student shot at teacher Abigail Zwerner, appearing to be fully aware of his actions and even bragging about it afterward.

    “I did it … I shot that b—ch dead,”

the child admitted to authorities, docs show.

According to Education Week, there have been 24 shootings in American schools in 2023, resulting in injuries or deaths. These statistics reinforce the pressing need for improved gun safety measures and prevention strategies to protect students and educators.
