Jennifer Delgado, a 32-year-old woman from Texas, is in trouble with the law after police discovered five children, including two babies, left alone in her car. The car was found in a small ditch following a police chase, reports Law & Crime.

The police chase occurred on August 11 at about 8:45 p.m. when deputies from McLennan County went to check out a report of a domestic disturbance on Martin Drive, as reported by Fox affiliate KWKT.

A couple was heard arguing loudly, sources say. Witnesses told the police one person involved in the fight crashed their car in front of a house and then drove away.

According to Texas CBS affiliate KWTX, deputies soon saw the car, which they believed was being driven by Delgado, speeding down Bob Johnson Road in China Spring.

An officer turned on the lights and sirens to pull her over, but she didn’t stop. Instead, she sped away down China Spring Road.

Police had to stop chasing her because they saw several kids in the car through the windows. Shortly after, a deputy found Delgado’s maroon Ford SUV in a small ditch off East Cougar Lane, but she was not inside the vehicle.

When deputies got closer to the SUV and looked inside, they found three children and two infants. Emergency medical responders checked on all the children. According to an affidavit obtained by the outlet,

“Three of the children stated their mommy was driving fast.”

The police got a call about Delgado after the accident, which helped them locate her. A witness reported seeing the 32-year-old woman in her backyard panicking and saying she needed to go back to her SUV. Delgado was arrested and taken to the McLennan County Jail. She faces charges of endangering a child, evading arrest or detention, and fleeing from a police officer.
