  • NYC Man Who Lost Hid Leg After Being Hit By Train Wins $90M Suit Against MTA

NYC Man Who Lost Hid Leg After Being Hit By Train Wins $90M Suit Against MTA

The MTA may owe $90 million after a train ran over a drunk man on the tracks, severely injuring him. He won a significant lawsuit from the incident that occurred back in 2018. According to the New York Post, the man lost a leg, hip joint, and the majority of his arm following the encounter.

Although the 56-year-old man from Brooklyn fell onto the tracks while drunk, his lawyer argued he deserved the payout since the train driver had enough time to avoid the accident.

    Ira Newman, the attorney said,

“This is a matter of public safety… This accident never would have happened had the train operator timely pulled an emergency brake according to the MTA’s own rules and regulations when seeing people alerting him to someone on the tracks.”

Lamont Powell fell onto the tracks at Broadway Junction subway station on June 30, 2018, after drinking. His lawyer stated the train operator had hundreds of feet to stop before the collision due to him falling to

“the far end of the tracks away from where the trains enter.”

The train operator had passengers on the platform waving to stop the train as it entered the station. A Brazilian witness returned from Brazil to testify about their actions to prevent the accident. An ex-MTA engineer informed the jury that a train going 16 miles per hour requires about 110 feet to stop, while the operator had approximately 360 feet to halt before hitting Powell.

During the trial, the attorney mentioned he should have braked for anything on the tracks. Now, Powell, with no relatives and unable to work, will live in supportive housing.

Almost a year after the incident that caused his injuries, Powell filed a lawsuit against the MTA.

  • Man Charged For Reportedly Shooting Trans Lover After His Girlfriend Learned About His Affair

Man Charged For Reportedly Shooting Trans Lover After His Girlfriend Learned About His Affair

A man, 26-year-old Daqua Lameek Ritter, has been charged after he allegedly shot his transgender lover, addressed in court as Dime Doe, after his girlfriend discovered their affair, per The Telegraph

Prosecutors say, Ritter, who often depended on 24-year-old Doe, for transportation, enticed her to drive to a secluded area in Allendale, South Carolina. He then allegedly shot her three times to keep their affair from being revealed further.

    The Court Proceedings

During the court proceedings that began on Tuesday, it was revealed that Delasia Green, Ritter’s girlfriend, discovered the affair between him and Doe a month before the murder. Reports say once she learned this, she used a homophobic slur against him, which made him “extremely upset,” according to the prosecution.

    Ritter, facing charges of

“murder as a hate crime and using a firearm in the commission of a hate crime,”

divided his time between South Carolina for work and New York with his family and girlfriend. Initially, he told Ms. Green that he and Doe were cousins, but as they got closer during his South Carolina visits, Ms. Green started to sense that something was off.

Ms. Green discovered text messages on Ritter’s phone from an unknown number discussing

    “getting a room,”

assuming they were from Ms. Doe. When confronted, Ritter dismissed her concerns about his sexuality.

Assistant US attorney Ben Garner informed the federal jury that Ritter killed Ms. Doe to silence her after learning she had disclosed their relationship to a friend.

On the day of Ms. Doe’s death in August 2019, they were stopped by the police for an unknown reason. Two and a half hours later, officials discovered her lifeless in the driver’s seat of her car, parked in a secluded driveway. Witness Kordell Jenkins reportedly saw Ritter dump his bag into a fire and asked Jenkins to get rid of a small gun on the same day.

  • Woman Says Deli Clerk Dragged Her After Mistaking Her As Transgender: Lawsuit

Woman Says Deli Clerk Dragged Her After Mistaking Her As Transgender: Lawsuit

A woman from Staten Island has filed a lawsuit against a deli and its owner after an incident in which she was dragged by her hair into the street, reports HuffPost. Jasmine Adams, 35, claims that the altercation occurred because the deli cashier mistook her for being transgender. The lawsuit alleges assault and battery, stating that the cashier became frustrated during a misunderstanding over a purchase of marijuana and proceeded to call Adams a “transvestite.” The cashier has not been publicl identified.

Video footage obtained by HuffPost shows a man in a white Denver Nuggets jersey dragging Adams by her hair and kicking her as spectators react in shock.

In the video, a person can be heard saying,

“You don’t need to be doing all that.”

Adams, in an interview with the New York Daily News, explained that she had entered the deli to purchase marijuana for a friend. Although marijuana is legal in New York City, only a few licensed establishments are allowed to sell it. Adams claimed that the cashier mistook her attempt to clarify the purchase for haggling and threw the marijuana on the ground when she paid.

The woman told the news outlet,

“I said it wasn’t about the price and that I was just trying to figure out what I was buying,”

after revealing that she was purchasing the marijuana for a friend and contacted her friend to confirm the price of $40.

According to Adams, when she refused to pick up the marijuana, the cashier began yelling at her and accused her of trying to get him fired when she asked for a refund. The lawsuit alleges that the cashier then called Adams a “transvestite” after noticing a pride flag on her watchband. He allegedly maced her and dragged her outside by her hair. Adams, who identifies as bisexual, expressed her disbelief at the cashier’s actions, stating that he had no right to become physical with her regardless of her gender identity. The New York City Police Department has confirmed that Adams filed a report with similar details to her lawsuit, and an investigation is ongoing.

  • Source Claims Cher’s Desperation To Help Son Elijah Led To Alleged Hiring Of 4 Men For His ‘Kidnapping’, Says ‘Her Fear Was Unbearable’

Source Claims Cher’s Desperation To Help Son Elijah Led To Alleged Hiring Of 4 Men For His ‘Kidnapping’, Says ‘Her Fear Was Unbearable’

In a recent incident, Cher faced accusations of masterminding the abduction of her 47-year-old son, Elijah Blue Allman, last November, per OK Magaizine

Elijah, who is also a musician, was residing in a hotel in New York, seeking to mend fences with his estranged wife, Mariangela King, while reportedly grappling with substance abuse problems. An insider suggested that Cher resorted to hiring individuals out of a deep sense of desperation and love for her son, who was going through difficult times.

“Cher thought Elijah’s wife was a bad influence who was steering Elijah down a dangerous path,”

the source revealed to a news outlet.

“She was desperate to help her son, so she did what she had to do.”

The source continued to explain that the

    “Believe”

singer wouldn’t label the incident as a straightforward case of

    “kidnapping,”

    exactly.

    “That’s an exaggeration,”

    they noted.

“But she was terrified that her son might die if she didn’t get him out of there.”

    They added

“Cher loves her son. Though he was a difficult kid and probably hated her at times, she did her best and took care of him financially,”

the source revealed about the 47-year-old individual who started experimenting with illegal substances like marijuana and ecstasy at the young age of 11.

“Elijah worries Cher sick, but she’d never abandon him.”

The initial report of the alleged abduction surfaced through a statement made by Mariangela to the court, as she sought to delay a divorce hearing. According to her account, on their wedding anniversary, a group of four individuals entered their hotel room and took Elijah away forcefully.

“I was told by one of the four men who took him that they were hired by (Elijah’s) mother,”

    Mariangela’s court statement continued.

“I am currently unaware of my husband’s well-being or whereabouts.”
