CBP Officers Seize $875K Worth of Marijuana Hidden in a Shipment of Men’s Overalls

US Customs and Border Protection officers in Baltimore seized $875,000 worth of marijuana that was hidden in a shipment disguised as men’s overalls, according to the NY Post

On April 29, officers discovered over 200 pounds of the psychoactive substance concealed within 155 vacuum-sealed packages, as stated in a press release from CBP. The drug-laden packages were being sent via air cargo to Belgium and were labeled as “brace overalls for men / heavy duty workwear bib.”

CBP noted that while the marijuana has a street value of approximately $875,000 in the US, its worth could potentially double or triple in Europe, depending on its potency. “Smugglers, including transnational criminal organizations, based in oversaturated marijuana markets, attempt to generate revenue by illegally exporting bulk shipments to markets across the globe,” Jason Kropiewnicki, the acting area port director for the Area Port of Baltimore, said in a statement.

According to CBP, special agents from Homeland Security Investigations Border Enforcement Security Task Force are currently investigating the matter.

Ziploc Brand Hit with New Class Action Lawsuit for Misleading Packaging, Reports Say

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Ziploc, according to the Kitchen. The resealable plastic bag brand is being accused of false advertising.

Linda Cheslow, a resident of California, is suing Ziploc’s parent company, S.C. Johnson & Son Inc., for misleading packaging on Ziploc products. The lawsuit claims that the materials used in these products, which include polyethylene and polypropylene, have been scientifically shown to potentially release microplastics when exposed to extreme temperatures.

Ziploc markets its products as safe for use in microwaves and freezers.

    What Are Microsplastics?

Microplastics are tiny plastic particles, measuring less than 5 millimeters. It can be harmful to the body if ingested, inhaled, or absorbed through the skin, reports note. “There are some recent studies suggesting that microplastics have been found to contribute to strokes,” according to Dr. Alex LeBeau, a toxicologist and certified industrial hygienis. “However, critiques of other vascular-related studies have indicated a lack of associated health effects from the presence of microplastics.”

A spokesperson for S.C. Johnson told USA Today in a statement, “We believe Ziploc products are safe when used as directed and the claims in this lawsuit are without merit.”

  • Justin Bieber Declares He Is ‘Not Among’ Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Victims As the Rap Mogul Faces a Sex-Trafficking Trial

Justin Bieber Declares He Is ‘Not Among’ Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Victims As the Rap Mogul Faces a Sex-Trafficking Trial

At the height of Diddy’s trial, where he faces allegations of sexual trafficking, pop star Justin Bieber aimed to dispel rumors surrounding his relationship to the Hip Hop mogul.

“Although Justin is not among Sean Combs’ victims, there are individuals who were genuinely harmed by him,” the “Peaches” crooner’s rep told Page Six Thursday. “Shifting focus away from this reality detracts from the justice these victims rightfully deserve.”

Last year, fans speculated that the 31-year-old “Baby” singer might have been a victim of Combs’ purported behavior. At that time, old videos of the two resurfaced, including one deemed “creepy,” in which they discussed the 48 hours they would spend together when Bieber was just 15. Another clip featured Combs urging the young pop star to keep the details of their time together a secret.

“Where we hanging out and what we doing, we can’t really disclose, but it’s definitely a 15-year-old’s dream,” Combs, 55, can be heard saying in the clip.

Initially, Bieber chose not to address the allegations directly, but sources told People that his primary focus was on his son, Jack Blues, and his wife, Hailey Bieber.

Jessica Kennedy, 34, is charged with attempted murder, child abuse, and domestic battery with a deadly weapon causing significant bodily injury, as per court documents. On Thursday, May 8, someone called 911 to report a shooting at an apartment complex near Fremont Street and Eastern Avenue. The caller whispered to a dispatcher, “Please come, someone is shooting,” documents said.

Officers arrived to find a man injured in a nearby alley, according to their report. The man later informed the police that his girlfriend, identified as Kennedy, had shot him. A neighbor reported to the police that she heard multiple gunshots coming through the wall, nearly hitting a child. She and her son took cover under their kitchen table until the authorities arrived.

    Woman Admits to Shooting Boyfriend

Another witness recalled hearing a man and woman arguing before the gunfire erupted. • Mexican Security Chief Confirms Cartel Family Members Crossed Into U.S. As Part of Deal with Trump Administration

Mexican Security Chief Confirms Cartel Family Members Crossed Into U.S. As Part of Deal with Trump Administration

On Tuesday, a Mexican security official revealed that 17 relatives of cartel leaders made their way into the U.S. last week. This move was part of an agreement involving a son of the former Sinaloa Cartel chief and the Trump administration, per AP News.

Omar García Harfuch, the Mexican Security Secretary, confirmed a report by independent journalist Luis Chaparro regarding the entrance of family members of Ovidio Guzman Lopez, who was extradited to the U.S. in 2023. During a radio interview, García Harfuch indicated that it was evident to Mexican authorities that this occurred following negotiations between Guzmán López and the U.S. government.

Guzmán Lopez is among the brothers who are currently managing a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel following the imprisonment of the infamous Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán in the United States. Footage showed the family members crossing the border from Tijuana with their luggage, approaching U.S. agents awaiting them.

Last week, there were speculations that the younger Guzmán would enter a guilty plea to avoid facing trial on multiple drug trafficking charges in the U.S. after his extradition in 2023. García Harfuch believed this was the case because the former cartel leader, whose lawyer mentioned in January that discussions with U.S. authorities had started, seemed to be accusing members of other criminal organizations as part of a cooperation deal.

García Harfuch stated that none of the family members were being sought by Mexican authorities and emphasized that the U.S. government under President Donald Trump “needs to share information” with Mexican prosecutors, which has not yet occurred. His confirmation coincided with the U.S. Attorney General’s Office announcing charges against several top cartel leaders for “narcoterrorism,” marking the first time this has happened since the Trump administration designated certain cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.

A disturbed woman has been arrested for allegedly setting a homeless woman on fire, as reported by the NY Post. The victim suffered severe burns that she needed to be intubated and was unable to identify her attacker for several weeks, according to police.

Chilling surveillance footage released on Wednesday shows a car making a U-turn before stopping next to a 49-year-old woman who was sleeping on a street in Sacramento on April 26.

The driver then gets out calmly, carrying a canister, and approaches the sleeping woman. She then pours an unknown liquid over her, as shown in the video. In an instant, the woman erupts into flames.

The driver then seems to have a confrontation with someone before quickly returning to her car and fleeing the scene. The victim sustained severe burns to about one-third of her body, including her face, torso, arms, and back. She was intubated at a local hospital for over two weeks, reports note. The woman recovered enough to speak with investigators on Tuesday and reportedly identified her attacker as 34-year-old #JacquelinePopaibarra, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. The victim’s name has not been disclosed.

The sheriff’s office stated that both women knew each other but did not provide details about what might have motivated the brutal attack. According to the sheriff’s office, Popaibarra, who is not homeless, even kicked the burning victim before fleeing the scene.

Popaibarra was already in the custody of the Sacramento Police Department on an unrelated robbery charge when she was identified as the suspect in the arson case. She has since been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, arson causing great bodily injury, and mayhem, with her bail set at $450,000.

A teenager from Upstate New York has been charged with murdering his 14-year-old girlfriend because she was pregnant with their child, and he “wanted nothing to do with her baby,” prosecutors stated per the NY Post

Now 17, the teen was charged with second-degree murder more than two years after his former girlfriend, Samantha Humphrey, was removed from the Mohawk River, per an indictment made public on Wednesday. Humphrey, who was from Schenectady, had been missing for three months before her body was discovered in the river, having been strangled before being dumped.

The suspect, whose identity has not been revealed due to his age, acknowledged being with her on the night of her disappearance and having an argument, as reported by Humphrey’s mother, Jaclyn, to CBS6 at the time. “We believe that Samantha thought she was pregnant and that this sometime boyfriend was the father,” Schenectady County District Attorney Robert M.
