Controversial transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, 26, has been recognized as the Woman of the Year by Attitude, a UK gay magazine. Mulvaney, known as the

“trans beer girl,”

appeared on the magazine’s cover wearing a white gown and braided hair crown. She accepted the award at the magazine’s ceremony, wearing two different outfits including a bejeweled ball gown and a black dress.

During her acceptance speech, Mulvaney addressed the mixed reactions to her win, acknowledging that

“some people see [her] as a woman of the year”

while others

“[do not] see [her] as a woman at all.”

She also briefly mentioned her controversial Bud Light campaign, which led to a significant boycott of the beer company.

Mulvaney went on to express that London became a safe space for her during her travels, allowing her to escape the negative attention and controversy back home in the US. She described feeling like just another person walking around the city, free from the judgment and hate she sometimes faces.

Despite the recognition from the magazine, Mulvaney’s win has sparked criticism. Candace Owens responded to the magazine’s cover in a tweet that said,

“A man wins woman of the year. Absolutely incredible. LOL.”
