A man who raped a woman in Florida has recently pleaded guilty to the crime after it was captured on a live webcam. Kerry Calvin Gasag, an Uber driver, was sentenced to 10 years behind bars for sexually violating a 34-year-old woman at a popular tourist spot, reports the Miami Herald. The victim initially believed that Gasag was saving her from another sexual attack, but he proceeded to ask her for sex. She jumped out of the car in a panic, and Gasag followed her and raped her near a famous landmark.

The entire incident that took place back in September 2021 was caught on the live webcam of the tourist spot, Southernmost Point Bouy in Key West, Florida, which was being monitored by an emergency services dispatcher in Boston. The dispatcher immediately contacted local officials after witnessing the assault. Gasag was seen on the webcam holding the woman in a headlock and sexually abusing her. The woman managed to escape, and Gasag later attempted to hide evidence at the scene. He was charged and apprehended two years following the attack.

Gasag was charged with sexual battery, false imprisonment, and evidence tampering. He faced up to 25 years in prison if he went to trial but received a 10-year sentence and five years of probation after pleading guilty. The woman’s first attacker, Jorge Calderon Nunez, is currently in jail on charges related to the earlier assault and will appear in court later this month.
