A Spirit Airlines traveler caused laughter when he was observed wearing a parachute during a flight, leading to jokes about the airline’s reputation for chaotic incidents.
A woman, KaganBrooks, posted the video on TikTok, of her husband sporting the parachute. The text on the video read,
“Not my husband bringing his parachute on Spirit Airlines just in case.”
The video received over 1.5 million views with over comments 1,500 from amused TikTok users. In the video, Brandon, the partner of the woman, boarding the flight with a camouflage-patterned parachute pack securely fastened to his back. With a casual attitude, he effortlessly placed the package into the overhead bin, much to everyone’s surprise as nobody on the flight reacted to it.
Many TikTok users jokingly attributed the parachute antics to the airline’s shaky reputation, also noting it was a great idea in general. One user said,
“We flew spirit over the Thanksgiving holiday and it was a nightmare. Never again.”
Another user said,
“This brings being “prepared” to an epic level! Super smart.”
However, in a follow-up video responding to a question, KaganBrooks, revealed, that it was a joke. She noted that her husband actually brought the parachute to go skydiving in Miami.
