Woman Mistakenly Eats Potato Chip Worth More Than $100,000

A UK woman is filled with regret after eating a heart-shaped chip that could have won her over £100,000 , BBC reports.

Dawn Sagar, who lives in Shropshire, England, was eating from a bag of Walkers brand chips when she found one in the shape of a heart. “I sent to my friends as I found it the day after Valentine’s Day and thought it looked cute,” she recalled.

Unbeknownst to her, Walkers was holding a competition for the chip she discovered, which are referred to as “crisps” in the United Kingdom. “We’re giving away a whopping £100,000 to one lucky winner who finds the best heart shaped crisp in their Walkers packet of crisps,” the company’s website states. “Big hearts, small hearts, bubbly hearts, crispy hearts- we want to see them all!” Judges are reportedly looking for the chip that most closely resembles a symmetrical heart shape.

It wasn’t until her friends responded to the photo, telling her not to eat it, that she became aware of the contest. Unfortunately, by the time she read their messages, she had already eaten it, taking her out of the running.

A Walkers spokesperson told BBC that Sagar’s “mishap” was unfortunate, but that the £100,000 prize, equating to $120,330.00 U.S. dollars, is still up for grabs.
