A caring daughter is thinking of an unconventional Mother’s Day gift, which some consider controversial. Instead of traditional presents, she’s contemplating helping her mom find happiness by suggesting an affair due to her dad’s role in her unhappiness. The daughter wrote the suggestion in the sub-Reddit group r/marriageadvice noting that her mother is

“miserable”

in her marriage, per The New York Post.

The unnamed daughter said,

“They barely speak to each other, he always sits in front of the TV and never lets her watch what she wants to. She goes to the effort of cooking him dinner and he barely even eats it, doesn’t thank her.”

“They’ve lost all affection, she told me he doesn’t even give her a kiss before bed. I can’t remember the last time they went out for dinner or on a date or something. I think they’ve got all hung up on their small little annoyances and don’t appreciate each other anymore, but they used to be so good together,”

she continued.

The daughter further explained that her mom is outgoing and enjoys socializing, but her dad and the marriage itself are emotionally exhausting for her. Although her mom has considered finding someone new, she remains committed to her husband.

She penned,

“With Mother’s Day coming up, I wanted to treat my mum to something unusual that could also get her marriage back on track… So I was thinking about getting her a membership to one of them dating websites you go to for an affair. I read that it can actually help a marriage.”

The post gained mixed reviews from Reddit users, one user commented,

“Are you out of your mind? I mean you really need help if you are seriously asking this question. Help [your] mom and dad by doing something nice for their marriage and [quit] being evil and trying to destroy it.”

“Well it could help end the marriage if that’s is the plan,”
