An 11-year-old boy tragically died in an ATV accident that was reportedly caused by a dog who jumped down on the gas pedal, per the NY Post

The accident occurred Monday, on a family vacation in West Virginia, reports state. The boy who is from Ohio, was riding in an ATV with his 12-year-old brother, their cousin’s 18-year-old boyfriend, and the family dog before the crash happened.

Assistant Fire Chief Wayne Williamson told the outlet that the pup,

“jumped on the floorboard and hit the accelerator pedal,”

causing it to skid off the road and tumble into an embankment.

A woman and a teenage girl who was riding in another ATV ahead of the boys, rushed to their nearby home to contact 911 due to the low cellphone service in the area, the station reported.

The 11-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, Williamson said.

“It’s just heartbreaking for everybody,”

Williamson told WSAZ.

“Everybody involved needs all the prayers they can get.”
