Recently, a 12-year-old boy in Michigan was mistakenly given an alcoholic drink at an Outback Steakhouse. Outback Steakhouse expressed their concern and relief that the child did not suffer any serious harm, reports PEOPLE

According to Mekyle Cureton, he ordered a virgin strawberry daiquiri at an Outback Steakhouse in Livonia; however, when he received it, the drink tasted different resulting in his heart racing as he drank what he assumed to be a virgin strawberry daiquiri.

The Cureton family, who doesn’t consume alcohol, couldn’t determine if the drink contained alcohol. They notified their server, who then confirmed the mistake with a bartender.

The restaurant apologized and provided a complimentary meal, but unfortunately, the boy had to be hospitalized. Reports confirmed that he had accidentally been given alcohol. The hospital prescribed Tylenol and advised rest. The following day, he had a hangover

The spokesperson of Outback Steakhouse told PEOPLE,

“We have taken the appropriate disciplinary action, and all our bartenders and staff have been retrained to ensure this does not happen again.”
