Dwight Howard’s ex-girlfriend Royce Reed has accused the NBA star of not protecting their son when he was sexually assaulted under his care. She made the revelations on Instagram and released receipts to back up her claims, which she alleged began in 2009. She also claimed that Howard abused her as well and hindered her career from taking off.
Royce Reed Accuses Dwight Howard of Negligence
Royce Reed opened a new Instagram account named @Ihadababybysuperman on December 28, 2024, to share her experience with Dwight Howard when they were still dating. Reed said she intended to expose the truth about all that occurred with the athlete, including the abuse she suffered. Among the things she talked about in her three-part expose was the fact that Howard watched as their son got abused under his care. The dancer and Howard share a son, Braylon Joshua, born in 2007.
Royce Reed disclosed that Dwight Howard’s brother abused Joshua sexually for five years, but the eight-time All-Star only covered it up. Additionally, Reed alleged that Howard’s brother assaulted the NBA star himself and their sister, and all his offenses were always swept under the rug.
Reed Accuses Howard of Abusing Her
In addition to ignoring Joshua’s abuse, Royce Reed accused Dwight Howard of abusing her, too. She narrated how she met her ex in 2004, and their relationship began. She worked as a dancer then, and her ex was a rookie. The former couple broke up after three years when Reed learned of Howard’s infidelity. However, they reunited, and she got pregnant in 2007. She tried to get an abortion to save her career but couldn’t go through with it.
Reed revealed that the basketball player asked her to deny his paternity, which she refused, and alleged that she suffered mental, physical, and verbal abuse. The TV personality also accused Howard of trying to sabotage her dance and reality TV career. Additionally, Reed said she had enough evidence to back up all she said and would reveal them if Howard tried any funny business. She disclosed that she knew more than her ex thought she did and dropped the initials R.E. to prove so.
Reed Says Why She Made the Allegations
Royce Reed said she made those revelations about Dwight Howard because she no longer wanted to bear the weight of all that happened and didn’t want to carry the emotional burden into the new year. Moreover, she alleged that he tried to shut her up using legal means.
“You tried to drown me in attorney fees to keep quiet?! F**K YOU,” she typed. “I refuse to go into 2025 carrying this weight so let’s go! Imma post the texts and emails too if you keep playing with me and calling my bluff!” she said.
Dwight Howard, who is now in a relationship with Amy Luciani, has responded to Royce Reed’s claims. However, he didn’t apologize or deny any of her claims. The athlete only said:
“This is my HOF year. I’m getting married. God is amazing. And I’m so grateful and I wish Royce nothing but the best peace and blessings.”
If all that Royce Reed said is true, Dwight Howard needs to apologize and try to make things right with his son. Hopefully, he will take the necessary steps to repair his relationship with Joshua and act right onwards.
