A passenger has been fined after urinating in a cup during a delay in deplaning at Sydney Airport, reports the NY Post. The incident occurred in December following a 3-hour Air New Zealand flight from Auckland.

The 53-year-old man, whose name has not been released, was fined $395 for offensive behavior by a Sydney court in February. The incident only recently gained public attention when New Zealand news website Stuff reported that a passenger in the same row, named Holly, reported the behavior to the air crew.

According to Holly, she and her 15-year-old daughter were seated in the aisle and middle seats when the man in the window seat, began urinating in a cup. Holly stated that the plane had been waiting on the tarmac for approximately 20 minutes, waiting for a terminal gate to be allocated, when she heard the sound of the passenger urinating in a cup.

The man was

“obviously quite drunk,”

she told the outlet, and mentioned that he accidentally spilled urine on a flight attendant while leaving the plane. Air New Zealand reportedly bans approximately five to ten customers every month due to disruptive behavior, including intoxication.
