Art Teacher Arrested After Overdosing On Fentanyl In Front Of Students

A New Jersey middle school teacher was arrested after overdosing on fentanyl in front of students, police said per the New York Post

Frank Thompson, a 57-year-old art teacher at Roosevelt Intermediate School in Westfield, New Jersey was found passed out in a second-floor classroom around 9 a.m. on Nov. 29, 2022, according to the Westfield Police Department per the Post. 

Police say students recognized signs of

“distress”

from Thompson and discovered the 57-year-old being treated by school nurses when they arrived. A responding officer immediately noticed that Thompson was suffering from an overdose of drugs and injected him with

“naloxone hydrochloride, or Narcan,“

cops told the outlet.

Thompson began to exhibit signs of improvement, according to police. After an investigation police say they found fentanyl and paraphernalia in the classroom closet.

The school district sent a letter out to parents which notified them of the incident and that classrooms were,

“sealed off and then sanitized,”

Fox 5 reported. 

Thompson was charged on Thursday with,

“possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, endangering the welfare of children, and a disorderly person offense,”

police said.
