Texas Dad Reportedly Told 10-Year-Old Girl to Drive Truck, Resulting in Crash That Killed 6-Year-Old Boy

A man from Lufkin, Texas, is facing a charge of criminally negligent homicide after he reportedly asked a 10-year-old girl to move his pickup truck on Sunday, resulting in a deadly crash. While driving the vehicle, the girl struck a porch with a 6-year-old boy on it, leading to his death as reported by local ABC affiliate KTRE TV.

Clinton Earl Johnson Jr., 31, was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the incident, which occurred while he and his family were grilling. According to a document from the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office obtained by KTRE, Johnson’s 6-year-old stepson was looking at a cellphone on the porch while the 10-year-old girl was riding her tricycle around the driveway.

At one point, the girl complained that Johnson’s truck was blocking her path, prompting him to allegedly tell her to “scoot it up,” according to an arrest document from CBS 19. Johnson later told investigators that the girl had driven on backroads before, according to KYTX TV. However, the boy’s mother informed the sheriff’s department that when her daughter was behind the wheel, she “got confused” and hit the gas, causing the truck to crash into the porch, KTRE reported.

When deputies from the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office arrived, they discovered several boards and poles scattered on the ground, along with Johnson’s stepson lying in front of the truck. The boy was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies noted that they detected the smell of alcohol on both Johnson and the boy’s mother, who allegedly admitted to having three or four drinks each. On Tuesday, Johnson was taken to the Angelina County Jail and charged with state jail felony criminally negligent homicide. He was later released after posting a $3,000 bond.

Kohl’s CEO Fired Following Investigation into ‘Highly Unusual’ Business Arrangement with Former Romantic Partner

Kohl’s has announced the termination of its CEO, pointing to alleged breaches of company guidelines related to “conflicts of interest,” reportedly involving a former romantic relationship, as reported by PEOPLE

In a news release issued on Thursday, May 1, the department store chain stated that Ashley Buchanan’s employment was ended after he had been in the position for nearly four months. “An investigation conducted by outside counsel and overseen by the Audit Committee of the Board determined Mr. Buchanan violated company policies by directing the Company to engage in vendor transactions that involved undisclosed conflicts of interest, which the Board determined to be cause,” Kohl’s said in its statement.

The company also clarified that Buchanan’s dismissal is not connected to the company’s “performance, financial reporting, results of operations and did not involve any other Company personnel.” Buchanan took on the role of CEO and board member at Kohl’s on January 15, replacing Tom Kingsbury. Prior to this, he was the CEO of the arts and crafts retailer Michaels.

As reported by The Wall Street Journal, his termination followed the discovery that Buchanan had led the company into a “highly unusual” business arrangement with consultant Chandra Holt, with whom he was romantically involved. The two reportedly met while working at Walmart years ago, and Holt has since become the founder and CEO of the coffee brand Incredibrew.

Holt told the paper that she’s known Buchanan for ten years but hasn’t “received any compensation for my Incredibrew business from Kohl’s.”

New Jersey Man Beaten to Death by His Daughter’s Alleged Sexual Assault Assailant and His Father

A teenage boy and his father have been charged with beating a man to death in New Jersey who was trying to defend his daughter following an alleged sexual assault, according to Too Fab.

On Easter Sunday, Louis “Gus” Serbeck, 54, and his daughter went to confront Eric D. Hannah, 55, and his son “J.H.”, 17, after Serbeck’s daughter informed him that “J.H.” had assaulted her at his residence the previous day, as reported by the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office.

    Details of the Fatal Assault

“J.H.” was the one who answered the door, according to the prosecutor’s statement. Serbeck’s daughter informed the police that her father went over to speak with the teens’ father because they were reportedly family friends. However, when “J.H.” answered the door, she described him as being immediately “aggressive.” The situation reportedly escalated into a “physical altercation,” after “J.H.” allegedly picked up a baseball bat and used it to smash a window on Serbeck’s car. Serbeck attempted to stop him and “J.H.” allegedly struck Serbeck multiple times in the head with a metal baseball bat, reports note.

The teenager is also accused of hitting Serbeck’s daughter in the head during the confrontation. Hannah is said to have joined the fight, hitting Serbeck “in the back of the head with a metal flashlight.” According to the probable cause statement, as Serbeck and his daughter tried to leave, he suddenly collapsed to the ground near his vehicle. The Vineland Police Department and emergency medical response arrived on the scene, according to prosecutors. Serbeck was transported to a local hospital and set to be air-transported to another facility, but he died en route.

Eric Hannah and “J.H.” were both arrested on April 20 on charges of homicide and weapons offenses. Additionally, “J.H.” is facing a charge of aggravated assault based on the allegations made by Serbeck’s daughter.

  • Trump Terminates Kamala Harris’s Husband Doug Emhoff, Reports Say

Trump Terminates Kamala Harris’s Husband Doug Emhoff, Reports Say

The Trump administration has terminated former second gentleman Doug Emhoff, on Tuesday, according to the NY Post.

Emhoff was on the board that governs the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC.

Emhoff, who is married to former Vice President Kamala Harris, was one of several appointees from the Biden administration that President Trump removed from the board.

    Douglas Emhoff Speaks Out

“Today, I was informed of my removal from the United States Holocaust Memorial Council,” Emhoff posted on X.

“Let me be clear: Holocaust remembrance and education should never be politicized. To turn one of the worst atrocities in history into a wedge issue is dangerous — and it dishonors the memory of six million Jews murdered by Nazis that this museum was created to preserve,” he added. Emhoff, who is Jewish, was a member of former President Joe Biden’s White House antisemitism task force. He was hired following a significant increase in antisemitic incidents after the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel. He joined the board in January and was expected to serve a five-year term.

An email from the White House Presidential Personnel Office, on behalf of President Donald J. Trump, stated, “I am writing to inform you that your position as a member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council is terminated, effective immediately.” The email informed several board members, including Emhoff, of their dismissal. Concluding with a note of gratitude: “Thank you for your service.”

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told the outlet that, “President Trump looks forward to appointing new individuals who will not only continue to honor the memory of those who perished in the Holocaust, but who are also steadfast supporters of the State of Israel,” she said in a statement.

Airyn De Niro, Daughter of Actor Robert De Niro, Publicly Comes Out As Transgender

Airyn De Niro, the daughter of Robert De Niro, has shared her journey of coming out as a trans woman in an exclusive interview with Them.

The 29-year-old, who identifies with she/her pronouns, expressed that “a big part of [my transition] is also the influence Black women have had on me,” in the interview released on Tuesday. “I think stepping into this new identity, while also being more proud of my Blackness, makes me feel closer to them in some way.”

Airyn, the daughter of De Niro and actress Toukie Smith, began hormone therapy in November 2024 and considers herself a “late bloomer.” She shared with the outlet that witnessing other trans women share their stories and achievements helped her understand that it was “not too late” for her to embark on her own journey. Airyn, who was born Aaron, said her family responded well to the news and embraced her “queerness” when she first came out as a gay man in high school.

    Instagram/voiceofairyn

Nevertheless, she still worries they may perceive her as the same person she was before her transition. “I sort of stood out like a sore thumb and there wasn’t anybody in my family that could relate to that experience,” she said.

“I was always told I was too much of something or not enough of something growing up: Too big, not skinny enough. Not Black enough, not white enough. Too feminine, not masculine enough,” Airyn continued.

Airyn shared with Them that she is pursuing a career as an actress and model, following in her mother’s footsteps, with the aim of being an “inspiration for at least one other person like [her] who is Black, who is queer, who’s not a size extra small.” Robert, 81, welcomed Airyn and her twin brother, Julian Henry De Niro, with his then-girlfriend Smith, 72, in 1995.

  • Wisconsin Dentist Fatally Shot by Neighbor in Argument Over Loud Music

Wisconsin Dentist Fatally Shot by Neighbor in Argument Over Loud Music

A well-known dentist in Wisconsin was fatally shot in his apartment building by a neighbor following a disagreement about loud music, as reported by the NY Post.

The suspect, Keionna McGowan, is facing charges for allegedly shooting her neighbor, Dr. Akintunde Bowden, after he reportedly asked her to lower her music on April 19, per WISN 12. The 27-year-old was in her northern Milwaukee apartment listening to music when she heard a loud knock on her front door, according to the criminal complaint reviewed by WISN 12.

    McGowan’s Account

McGowan told the police that she saw Bowden, 41, behaving aggressively and suspected he was “intoxicated.” She claimed that she opened her door and agreed to turn down her music, but this did not de-escalate the situation. According to McGowan, she shut the door, but Bowden kicked it. She then grabbed a gun, reopened the door, and shot at him when he attempted to kick it again, as reported by WISN 12.

When officers from the Brown Deer Police Department arrived, McGowan was reportedly outside her Park Plaza Court apartment building yelling, “He’s in my house, number 207.” Authorities found Bowden lying face down in the doorway of McGowan’s apartment and pronounced him dead at the scene.

The autopsy report from the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office indicated that the dentist died from a single gunshot wound to his lower abdomen. On Thursday, McGowan was charged with second-degree reckless homicide while using a dangerous weapon.

Bowden’s brothers, Adeniji and Ogbonna, who are both dentists, recalled his deep passion for his patients, noting that he dedicated over a decade to offering dental care to those who couldn’t afford it. “He always reached for people that didn’t have as much or didn’t have what we consider a fair chance,” Ogbonna told CBS 58.

  • Damon Dash at Risk of Losing Over $800K for Ignoring Court Orders

Damon Dash at Risk of Losing Over $800K for Ignoring Court Orders

Damon Dash finds himself in hot water as a federal judge in New York considers imposing sanctions against him. Dash and his company, Poppington LLC, have ignored court orders linked to a lengthy financial dispute with filmmaker Josh Webber.

Dash’s refusal to acknowledge discovery requests concerning his assets is the reason he is now in the hole, according to AllHipHop.

The plaintiffs are seeking access to information about Dash’s film rights and company records to enforce a judgment that has now surpassed $800,000. Court documents indicate that both Dash and Poppington “failed to respond to discovery requests.” This led Webber’s legal team to seek the sale and turnover of Dash’s business interests and intellectual property.

What started as a debt of hundreds of thousands has gone up to a staggering $4 million. If Dash does not respond by April 28, 2025, he risks facing even harsher penalties for ignoring the court’s orders.

    The Root of the Conflict

The roots of this conflict date back to a 2022 judgment that mandated Dash to compensate Webber and Muddy Water Pictures after he falsely asserted ownership of the film “Dear Frank,” starting a fierce legal battle. Tensions flared in 2024 when Dash publicly accused Webber on the “Earn Your Leisure” podcast. Webber argues that Dash’s statements sabotaged a $4 million film deal, leading to a defamation lawsuit.

Dash’s refusal to cooperate with the court resulted in a $4 million default judgment against him in March 2025. Now he must face the consequences of not showing up to required mediation sessions and his failure to submit requested documents. In December 2024, Dash’s one-third stake in Roc-A-Fella Records was auctioned off to recover the debt. Despite this sale, Dash still owes over $823,000. The judge has issued a new order requiring Dash to submit a letter by April 28, detailing why he should not be sanctioned for disregarding previous court directives.

A measles outbreak that began in western Texas in January has spread across the United States, per Huff Post. Nearly 900 cases have been reported.

According to data released on Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are currently 884 confirmed measles cases nationwide. Texas accounting for the bulk of the infections—646 cases confirmed in the state since late January. Among all reported cases, 94 individuals have been hospitalized.
