12 Family Members Including Children Diagnosed With Fungal Disease After Visiting In Costa Rica

An extended family of six adults and six children traveled from three states—Georgia, Texas, and Washington—to Costa Rica, and visited a bat cave. After their trip, they returned home feeling sick. On Jan. 17, 2025, a doctor in Georgia informed the CDC about suspected cases of histoplasmosis, according to Fox News.

Prior to the report, the family visited the Venado Caves in Costa Rica which was linked to a past histoplasmosis outbreak. Of the 13 members who traveled from Dec. 21–28, only 12—six adults aged 42–49 and six children aged 8–16—were diagnosed. If you’re unaware, Histoplasmosis is a lung infection caused by a fungus in contaminated soil. Reports say the soil was contaminated with bird and bat droppings.

One adult visited the emergency room and was hospitalized due to an unusual chest X-ray, raising fears of lung cancer. After 8-19 days of visiting the cave, all 12 family members fell poorly with headaches, fever, night sweats, body aches, and respiratory and stomach issues. Luckily, they fully recovered after 28 days.

  • Donald Trump Faces Backlash for Using Photos from Wrong Country as Evidence of ‘White Genocide’ in South Africa

Donald Trump Faces Backlash for Using Photos from Wrong Country as Evidence of ‘White Genocide’ in South Africa

President Donald Trump is facing criticism for allegedly providing false evidence of a “genocide” against white farmers in South Africa, per OK Magazine. A closer look revealed that the image he presented during a press briefing was actually taken in the Congo.

In a press conference on Wednesday, May 21, alongside South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Trump remarked, “The farmers are not Black. I’m not saying that’s good or bad, but the farmers are not Black. The people are being killed in large numbers, and you saw all of those gravesites.”

To support his claims, Trump shared reports alleging violence throughout the country. However, it turned out that the photos he used were not from South Africa at all. Trump displayed a printout from the website American Thinker, which allegedly supported his assertions. However, the blog post contained a screenshot from a YouTube video showing a response by Red Cross workers to incidents of mass rape and murder specifically in Goma, located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, not South Africa.

During the widely publicized meeting, President Ramaphosa acknowledged, “There is criminality in our country. People who do get killed, unfortunately, through criminal activity, are not only white people — the majority of them are Black people,” he noted while also highlighting the broader context of crime within his nation.

“One of the most embarrassing moments for Americans was when Donald Trump pulled out a picture from the Congo and claimed it was a burial site for victims of his imaginary ‘white genocide’ in South Africa,” said one X user.

A Texas mother is behind bars following a desperate 911 call from her 11-year-old son, who accused her of setting their family dogs on fire, according to Too Fab

Officers from the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office responded to Veronica Loredo’s home after her son reported that “his mother believed he was the devil and was currently burning the family dogs.” While deputies were on their way to the house, they received an additional call from a neighbor, who reported that a woman “just arrived at their residence with blood on her hands and advising her parents have been killed.”

Woman Convicted for Allegedly Sneaking on to a Delta Flight from New York to Paris, Reports Say

A federal jury has found Svetlana Dali guilty of sneaking onto a Delta flight to Paris last November, according to ABC News.

Dali reportedly made her way through security using a lane meant for crew members. She managed to avoid gate agents by mingling with other passengers. She faced federal charges for boarding an overnight Delta flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City on November 26, 2024, and traveling to Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport without a valid ticket. Dali had pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Dali was convicted by a federal jury in Brooklyn on Thursday. Dali is a Russian citizen and was a U.S. permanent resident who recently resided in Philadelphia. She took the stand during the short trial and admitted that she did not have a boarding pass when she boarded the plane. She explained that she simply walked to “where the people were boarding the flights and then I just walked into the airplane.”Dali mentioned that she remained in the bathroom for almost the duration of the flight, almost from the beginning to the end.”

According to the FBI complaint, Dali could not produce a boarding pass when the flight landed in France. The complaint noted that French law enforcement prevented her from entering the customs area once the plane arrived. Eventually, she was returned to New York to face the charges.

22-Year-Old Student Teacher Charged After Allegedly Having Sex With 17-Year-Old, Told Cops She Saw Him As A ‘Little Brother’

A high school student teacher from Texas, 22-year-old Darian Christine Rogers, confessed to having sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old boy she taught, claiming she viewed him as a “little brother.” She has been charged with a second-degree felony for her actions. They met while working at a grocery store before she became a student teacher at Rouse High School in Leander, per FOX 7, according to the New York Post.

Rogers has been at the high school since January and was reported to authorities in April by a student who claimed to know about the teacher’s sexual relationship with a minor. The student also gave a voicemail where Rogers admitted to sending inappropriate photos to the teen student.

Initially, the boy denied the relationship until police showed him messages about the Plan B pill exchanged with Rogers. In her police interview, she denied having sex with him, calling their bond a “big sister and little brother” relationship but later confessed to having sex once in his truck near the grocery store they worked at after seeing the text evidence.

Rogers advised the student to refrain from making “inappropriate comments” while she was interviewing for a job at the school. Officials discovered a video of her taking the Plan B pill and a receipt on her phone. Another text thread revealed a past sexual relationship with another 17-year-old student. Following her arrest, the school’s principal sent a letter to families.

Teacher Charged and Facing Deportation For Allegedly Showing Nude Pictures To Teen

A middle school teacher in Florida is at risk of deportation after being accused of showing a nude photo of himself to a 15-year-old student and requesting a similar image in return. Jonathan Rowe, a 45-year-old math teacher from Jamaica, was apprehended after the student reported the incident to officials. He said he was in Rowe’s classroom for a planning period when it occurred. According to the New York Post, the student requested to see a previous picture taken in the classroom.
