The issue between Drake and Kanye West started when the former dropped his fifth studio album, Scorpion. Drake’s Scorpion had several songs, including “In My Feelings,” which made it to the Billboard Hot 100. In that track, the rapper talked about a beau named “Kiki,” which was misconstrued by listeners as referring to Ye’s ex-wife, Kim Kardashian.

The real Kiki that Drake was referring to is his former girlfriend named K’yanna Barber, not Ye’s ex. Kim K denied having an affair with Drake, but Kanye was not having it. He believed the Canadian rapper was spreading rumours about his then-wife. Around the same time, it was believed that due to the situation, Ye told Pusha T about Drake’s unknown son, Adonis. Pusha T used it in his diss track against Drake, who wasn’t happy about it.

Since then, Drake has dropped lyrical jabs against Kanye West, and fans feel he has done it again in a track from his newly released album, “For All The Dogs.” But was Drake talking about Ye on ‘8AM in Charlotte’?

Speculations have sprung up following the release of Drake’s eighth studio album. But according to Billboard, the truth is that Drake never mentioned Ye on the track. The lyrics of that part of the track read:

“Handle beef so quiet you think that I’m letting it slide/ Next thing you know we tip-toeing past enemy lines/ Diss me so long ago we making your memories fly/ Conspiracy theories start flowing around like the Kennedy guy/ I’ll probably hold a grudge against you guys ’til I’m 75.”

The thing is, a message can be conveyed without being direct. This is why fans feel Drake’s lyrics about handling beef were aimed at Ye, because who else? However, the whole thing may have been misunderstood.
