House of Aama, a fashion brand that celebrates African culture and supports the African community around the world, was created by Rebecca Henry and Akua Shabaka. Rebecca is a lawyer by job, but she naturally likes art too like sewing and quilting. She also enjoys the visual arts.

At the same time, Akua went to Parsons The New School for Design and has a good understanding of Strategic Design and Business Management. Growing up in an environment that liked businesses, art, and a vibrant way of life due to her cool jazz musician daddy, Jamaiel Shabaka Akua, brings something special to House of Aama.

This mom-and-daughter team has joined together their interests to set up a great black-owned business. It represents the spirit of where they come from.

The House of Aama’s dedication to keeping traditions and art alive makes it a place that should be visited by those who want to appreciate various customs.
