No lawsuit has been filed yet against Donald Glover but Giannina Antonette Oteto, a Kenyan model, has revealed how he dishonored an agreement. The model who was the face of Childish Gambino’s “Awaken My Love!” album did not receive the residency promised nor paid well.

Giannina Antonette Oteto Says Danny Glover Underpaid Black Women

Oteto made the big reveal after telling her fans online how long it took to accept that she was a part of the album’s success. Due to her experience after the album’s success, she failed to recognize her input.
The Kenyan model explained that Glover’s attitude made her upset. According to her, a host of colored women put their backs on achieving a wholesome project. Sadly, they got nothing for a job well done.

“We were received low pay but were promised residuals but never received anything. The only person who received residuals was a white woman who created the headpiece even though she was not on set to work on this(but she also deserves it),” she wrote.

As per The Jasmine Brand, she continued:

“After years of lies and silence then finding out statue of limitation complications… its been an exhausting, emotional, and overall sad thing to deal with. So it took so much from me especially the fact that we all worked on it with so much love and being proud to represent black artists. All of my lawyers communications have been ignored by the artist and his team.”

Glover is yet to refute the claims from Oteto. However, the Kenyan model, who is yet to slam him with a lawsuit, proved that he was somewhat prejudiced against black women. Via her post, she added that Wass, a white woman who worked on the album cover and failed to appear on set, received residency as promised.

Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, Recorded Remarkable Success

Childish Gambino’s “Awaken My Love!” was the singer’s third studio album that debuted in 2016. While it did not receive an Album of the Year award, the second song, titled Redbone On, won a Grammy.

Ultimately, it topped the Best Traditional R&B Performance category, highlighting the richness of native traditions in the project. Listeners also enjoyed the album as it landed the number five spot On the US Billboard 200.

The Childish Gambino’s “Awaken My Love!” album cover was a reflection of its content. It bore the picture of a melanin model styled in creative headgear created by Laura Wass. Years after the buzz about the work of art, Giannina Antonette Oteto, the woman on the album cover, accused Donald Glover of partiality.
