Mike Jackson and Egypt Sherrod are returning to HGTV for the second season of Married To Real Estate. The dynamic duo had a star-studded night with friends and family to celebrate the premiere of their show with appearances from Trina Braxton, Married to Medicine couple Contessa and Walter Metcalfe, Tamika Scott, and more.
Married to Real Estate, starring real estate broker and interior designer, Egypt and her husband, master builder Mike showcases their family life all while helping clients find their dream home.
During the exclusive event, guests got the chance to watch the advanced premiere as well as listen in on a Q&A hosted by Shari’ Nycole. The couple reflected on the relationship aspect of the show as they talked about what they learned about each other through the experience.
“What I learned not just through this relationship journey but also through this process is that [Mike] is able… what I’ve learned overall is that [Mike] is an idea man. He’s the quarterback and I’m the running back, and I’m ok with that,”
said Egypt
“The only thing I would say I gained from this when we did the show is that I watched her grow into her design element. She became a beast in that field, which again, inspired me….When I watched her progress in her design field I was like, she got this,”
Mike said about his wife, Egypt.
Egypt and Mike also left a piece of advice for newly married couples looking to get into business together.
“Make sure you continue to date each other, make sure that the communication stays there and you like each other because you can’t do the business if you don’t like each other. Work on the union before you work on the business,”
said Mike.
The pair expressed their gratitude for their
“tribe”
which Jackson says are the family and friends who’ve contributed to their success along the way. Sherrod also acknowledged that the show is being aired in multiple countries across the globe and shared how much it meant to be a successful black couple on a nationally syndicated network.
Married to Real Estate premieres on HGTV Thursday, January 12th at 9 p.m. ET.
