A Michigan at-home aide, Bryanna Burton, has reportedly been charged after stealing $26,000 from her elderly patient whom she was hired to take care of, reports FOX.
The woman’s arrest came about following months of investigation, says the Bloomfield Township Police Department. The patient, who is 91 years old, called officials back in December to express her suspicions about her aide stealing checks from her residence while working. The unidentified elderly lady revealed that several checks were nowhere to be found and later learned that the checks were made out to her aide, as the aide also cashed the checks.
According to FOX, the aide has been
“charged with five counts of identity theft, two counts of using a computer to commit a crime, and one count of larceny.”
It’s unclear if the money was given back to the victim; however, Burton reportedly posted a $2,500 bond and is currently waiting for a court appearance.
