A Florida man is back behind bars for the alleged murder of his pregnant girlfriend just days after being found not guilty of a double homicide, NY Post reported.

Billy Adams, 25, is accused of fatally shooting Alana Sims, the mother of his unborn child. Sims, just 22 years old, was reportedly told by Adams to meet up to celebrate his acquittal, only to be gunned down outside of her car, according to WFLA. Her young son was also in the car at the time of the shooting but was not harmed.

According to Tampa Police Major Michael Stout, Adams’s motive seems to be that he was not ready to be a father. Adams had just been found not guilty of the killing of two men on Jan. 27. He now faces a charge of first-degree murder for the death of Sims and their unborn child.

Tampa Interim Police Chief Lee Bercaw said in a statement,

“We are working with the State Attorney’s Office to ensure the suspect is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
