Matt Barnes and Gloria Govan are still at loggerheads despite going their separate ways in 2016. The former couple has yet to find a common ground, so it’s no surprise that they’re at odds now and then. More recently, Barnes tried to ward off a $267k debt from child support from his former wife. However, the NBA star launched at Gloria, claiming she stole from him for years.

Matt Barnes and Gloria Govan’s’ Child Support Brouhaha

Last year, Radar Online reported that Gloria shot at her ex-husband with a lawsuit, accusing him of child support debt. The initial ruling from the court was for Matt to pay $20,000 to cater to the needs of their teenage twins. But it was eventually trimmed to $7,000; still, the former basketball player allegedly refused to pay.

In court, Matt maintained that his ex-wife had failed to communicate the lawsuit properly, but Gloria was able to prove otherwise. She cited Matt’s threat in her court documents because of her persistence. At the time, the reality TV star said Matt’s debt was around $133,000. It has been nearly a year, and nothing has been done about it except that the debt has continued to pile up. But in recent filings, Matt pushed out his allegations.

Matt Barnes Says Gloria Govan Used His Card For Travels

As per The Jasmine Brand, Gloria told the court of Matt’s child support debt, but her ex-husband seems to have charges on her, too. He explained that they had agreed to reduce the $4,000 monthly.

This was because Matt settled their kids’ school fees. However, this agreement was only done verbally. The retired athlete asked the court to stamp on the agreement.

Additionally, he accused Gloria of theft, claiming:

“For years Gloria has been using my Amex card to book travel for herself…Each time…it appears she logged into my account and surreptitiously changed the email address to hers, then booked travel and received the confirmation at her email address, only to immediately change the email address on the account back to mine once she received her travel confirmation so that I would be none the wiser.”

Gloria has yet to respond to the lawsuit, but back in June 2023, she had established that Matt stopped paying child support because of his responsibility as a father. He was overwhelmed by the birth of his youngest child with his lover, Anansa Sims, who was a single mom.
