Tish Cyrus isn’t willing to agree with her ex-husband, Billy Ray Cyrus, that Hannah Montana ruined their family. The sitcom, which starred father and daughter, was the big break the family needed, but following a divorce lawsuit, Billy Ray said he would trade all of it for family.

Billy Ray Cyrus’ Hannah Montana Confession

Though Billy was an already established country singer, it was not until he appeared side by side with his daughter on “Hannah Montana” that he got his onscreen break. Then came fame, money, and celebrity status. However, in 2011, after a looming divorce, the country crooner told GQ that Hannah Montana had ruined his family.

He continued, “I’ll tell you right now — the damn show destroyed my family.” The interviewer asked if he could turn back the hands of time what would be his move and the onscreen-offscreen dad said:

“I hate to say it, but yes, I do. Yeah. I’d take it back in a second. For my family to be here and just be everybody okay, safe and sound and happy and normal, would have been fantastic. Heck, yeah. I’d erase it all in a second if I could.”

More than a decade later, and after their finalized divorce, Tish picks holes in Billy’s comment. She revealed on her daughter’s Call Her Daddy podcast that it was false.

Tish Tugs At Billy’s Comment

Brandi Cyrus, the pair’s eldest daughter, had an honest conversation with her mom, Tish, about a week ago. Tish immediately corrected the narrative, adding that Hannah Montana did not cause damage to their home. Brandi quickly supported her mom by adding, “Not at all. I mean the family’s not destroyed, first of all. We’re doing great.”

Following her comment, Tish tried to put up a defense for Billy Ray Cyrus. Per Fox News, she claimed, “No, I just think he was having a moment.”
