Missy Elliott will be live and direct at this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Ceremony slated for November 3. The Grammy-winning rapper will make history as the first black female rapper to get such an honor. Let’s see if this leaves her with butterflies in her tummy.

Missy Elliott’s One On One With Robin Roberts

Missy Elliott had a heart-to-heart conversation with GMA‘s Robin Roberts. Together, the woman delved into topics about her life “then and now.” The rap legend with four Grammy awards to her name talked about how she got her name, Missy “Misdemeanor” Elliott.

According to her, Magoo of Timbaland & Magoo gave her the name because of her outstanding talent.
“He said, ‘It was a crime to have as many talents as I had,'” she claimed.

Indeed, Missy Elliott was consumed by the need to share her talent with the world. In her youth, she proclaimed that she would be famous — and it happened!

However, her success story did not come easy. She had to work on conquering her fears and anxiety. The rapper was diagnosed with Graves disease in 2008, but she did not allow that to get in the way. While Missy Elliott pushed through, she focused on getting needed medical help.

Apart from amassing awards and gaining recognition from fans while blessing them with ever-green music, the rapper gets the chance to write history. She would make the first black female on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee list.

Concerning this honor, the hip-hop genius claimed she is beyond overwhelmed. The 52-year-old, who is known for her fast-track words, found it impossible to describe her feelings.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Will Host Two Of Elliott’s Beloved

For the first time, the rapper’s mom will witness her perform live. Despite her fame and status, Missy Elliott claimed that her mother avoids fame and she is a very shy person.

One of her other favorite people — Queen Latifah, will be there. She will not only be a spectator, but the actress will introduce the audience to the rapper. These two have been friends for decades.
