“It’s definitely been difficult. It’s one of those things where we’re trying to weigh the pros of the situation,”

the granddaughter, Amy Rost told WREG.

Rost’s grandmother passed away in October. Following her cremation, her ashes were divided between Rost’s father, Jeff, and her aunt residing in Ohio. The precious package was then sent to Jeff’s residence in Memphis’ Midtown neighborhood. However, despite the tracking information indicating a successful delivery on December 4th, Jeff was left empty-handed when he went to retrieve it from his front porch. He believed that a thief stole the package.

“We’ve had so many things stolen here. Everything from tables and chairs to a can of Raid. Someone is always coming up and grabbing whatever they can find,”

he told the outlet.

Memphis was ranked the second worst city in the country for

“porch pirates,”

according to a report by Safewise last month.

The family is pleading for the person who took the box to return it immediately — no questions asked.

“If I saw somebody bring a box up and leave it on the porch, I’ll leave it til they’re gone,”

Jeff told WREG.

“I’m not trying to prosecute anybody, it’s just it would certainly be nice to have it back.”

The Rost family said they will be installing a security camera to prevent future thieves from returning.
