A high school prankster let off an extremely strong

“fart spray”

onto his Texas school campus that sent six students to the hospital, NY Post reported.

The unnamed teen confessed to pulling the foul prank after seeing that his joke was no laughing matter. Fire officials were called to Caney Creek High School after receiving reports of “a smell of gas” lingering in the building.

Fire officials and hazardous response teams spent three days trying to locate the smell to no avail. Students and faculty started to pick up on the fuming scent Wednesday, prompting an immediate evacuation of all students. That day, six students were taken to the hospital due to complaints of severe headaches from the smell, Caney Creek Fire Chief Raymond Flannelly told KHOU-11. Eight others reported feeling ill, reports reveal.

Although fire officials confirmed that there were no gas leaks and the air quality in the building was safe, the school decided to still shut down classes for the remainder of the week, according to the Post. On Friday the culprit came forward and admitted to releasing the fart spray, advertised as a gag toy that

“creates a smell like real poo and fake vomit.”

“A student confessed to bringing a highly concentrated, prank, stink spray called Hensgaukt Fart Spray,”

the Caney Creek Fire & Rescue squad announced. Caney Creek High School Principal Jeff Stichler wrote a letter to parents promising to

“address it to the fullest extent of the Student Code of Conduct and the laws of the State of Texas,”

according to PEOPLE.
