Moana voice actor Dwayne Johnson is excited about his daughters joining him on his project Moana 2. The professional wrestler-turned-actor gushed about the wonderful experience his daughters, Jasmine, 8, and Tiana, 6, had. The girls worked with him, voicing characters for members of Moana’s fan club, the Moana Be’s. Johnson shared how happy his girls were to be part of the widely acclaimed movie.

Dwayne Johnson took his family to the animated movie Moana 2 premiere on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024. The premiere, which was held in Hawaii, saw the actor on the red carpet with his mom, Ata, his wife, Lauren Hashian, and their two daughters, Jasmine and Tiana. His 23-year-old daughter, Simone, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Dani Garcia, was also on the red carpet. The family wore floral leis around their necks to recognize the Polynesian culture.
“They loved it. Loved, loved it. They hadn’t seen it before,” Johnson told E! News at the premiere. “They knew they were in it, and they were sitting on the edge of their seats, literally, and just waiting. And then their scene came up, and they’re just like, ‘That’s me!’ It was so cool.”
A proud Dwayne Johnson said of his daughters featuring in Moana 2:
“That’s the good stuff of fame,” and joked, “nepotism.”
Dwayne Johnson Impressed With Daughters in Moana 2
Dwayne Johnson also shared how impressed he was with his daughters’ performance in Moana 2. On the day of the premiere, he posted an Instagram clip of his daughters at the Walt Disney Animation studio. The girls were there to voice characters whose relationship with Moana is undisclosed. The clip showed the girls in matching dresses walking into the studio as they examined a Moana set piece in awe. The clip also showed the girls reciting their lines with some interjections as they grinned widely. He captioned the post:
“Introducing your #Moana2 Moana-Be’s 🌺🥰 My two tornados 🌪️🤣 Jazzy & Tia 🤎🤎 It was a family affair at the @DisneyAnimation recording studios and everyone had a blast! As you can see, Moana is deeply personal and I’m a grateful man 🥹🙏🏾 Catch the Moana-Be’s handing out L’s to Maui – in theaters Thanksgiving day! 😂 #MOANA2 @disneyanimation.”
He added that the girls were “much better than daddy.” Hashian also posted the same clip online, calling it the “sweetest and funnest day.”
Dwayne Johnson Shares Impact of Moana 2
Dwayne Johnson also talked about the impact of Moana 2 on his daughters and society. He gushed about the awareness the animated movie raised about Pacific island traditions. The Red Notice actor noted that he was “lucky” to have been part of a cultural project that has become iconic. Johnson also reflected on the “Chee hoo” phrase that has gained popularity through the movie. He stated that the phrase was unknown a decade ago but is now popular with several variations thanks to Moana.
The celebrated actor discussed how important Moana 2 and the prequel are for his daughters. The “girl dad” confessed that the messaging is his best part of the movie as it pushed for “female empowerment.” Johnson acknowledged that the movie’s message was for everyone regardless of their culture, especially those where young girls are “constrained.” Johnson also shared that Moana 2 tells them they can be much more instead of being limited.
