The sale of Diddy’s clothing brand, Sean John, has finally come to an end. Not that the Sean John collection at Macy’s was sold out, but shoppers might have to say goodbye following a business review.

A Brief History of Diddy’s Clothing Brand “Sean John”

Following his success as a musician and businessman, Sean “Diddy” Combs set up his Sean John clothing brand and gave Macy’s the right to distribute it. More than a decade after the original agreement, the rapper considered using Macy’s store and website as the sole distributor.

Along the line, the music exec invited Global Brand Groups to become a shareholder. Allegedly, he gave 90% to the organization in 2016. Half a decade later, Diddy reclined the shares by paying $7.5 million.

Diddy’s Sean John Will Be Off Macy’s

The highest sales recorded by Macy’s were between 1998, the year of the brand’s invention, and the early 2000s. Sources confirmed that the retail store has recorded poor sales in recent times. So they decided to phase out the brand.

According to details from an insider, per Radar Online, an internal review spotlighted that since early fall of 2023, Sean John has not been able to compete with other brands, leading to its possible extinction.

“As part of our ongoing review of our brand portfolio, the Sean John collection has started to phase out of the assortment since early fall 2023,” the insider noted.

Without hesitation, the store intends to remove the product as they are saddled with deciding what their shoppers would like. The source boldly affirmed that it is purely business, adding that companies often evaluate.

Sean John Gets Phased Out Almost After Diddy’s Controversial Lawsuit

The brand news comes days after fans became aware of the horrendous things Diddy’s ex-lover Cassie claimed to have faced in their romance. The singer maintained that Diddy was physically and emotionally abusive. According to her, he raped and drugged her and forced her to sleep with male prostitutes.

Diddy denied all allegations; however, hours after the lawsuit was filed, the pair settled the matter quietly. While this has led to backlash from fans and an employee of his quitting a podcast show, Macy’s claims it has nothing to do with their decision to end ties with the rapper.
